Wild stuff from the “model” building code — let’s make reuse of office buildings impossible and limit options for families (I’d prefer my baby’s room didn’t have a window — we’d all sleep better!).

For the past generation, moving to a red state has probably been the definitive marker of someone who has standard working-middle class aspirations: get married, buy a home, have kids, start your own business, etc. That's an existential problem for Democrats.

We checked in on what voters think Democrats and Republicans want for them. The good news for Democrats is that they’re narrowly winning on “feeling stable in your personal life.” The bad news for them is that Republicans dominate on everything else: wealth, marriage, kids, and

One of the most important pieces of legislation in modern California history is currently sitting on Governor Newsom's desk: SB 79. He will likely either sign or veto it this week. Here's what you need to know, and how you can help.

This under-construction 7-bedroom, $14mm mansion did not have to pay any affordable housing fee. If you built a five-unit apartment of the same size, it'd need to pay a $360,000 affordable housing fee. How do five small homes neg. impact affordability more than one mansion?

DC's public transit is part of why so many people decide to live, work, and stay here. In FY26, we are making vital investments to improve and maintain the Metro services that residents and visitors count on every day.

In addition to making housing affordability worse, this also sends a terrible message to public servants. How can we expect people to be motivated to work in local government if, even after years of democratic process, their hard work can be thrown in the trash by a rogue judge?

If you want to understand the problems at @dcdpw, note that they are auctioning a 2017 tow truck because "we bought new trucks" https://t.co/AmX2PJnmW2 Based on its mileage, if it averaged 10 mph, it operated for roughly 30 eight-hour workdays per year.

Guy with 80+ tickets for speeding & running🚦says the kid in a crosswalk with broken toes & tire marks “hit his car” & that his driving record “is irrelevant.” It’s a great example of drivers who do not expect accountability. The STEER Act changes that.

💯 On Monday, a child was struck in a crosswalk in Ward 6 by a driver swerving around a car at 🚦, leaving her with broken toes & tire marks on her leg. He was simply issued a ticket, even with his 80+ speeding tickets/$18K+ in fines he owes. He shouldn’t be driving in DC. 1/2

A common thread for parents getting their children across town is just how dangerous crossing the street can be. Rage, aggression, threats, honking, you name it: parents and guardians have seen and heard it all and it doesn’t change year in and year out.
