Brookland's 1890 train station, torn down to build Brookland Metro station. Obviously overwhelmingly grateful for Metro but do kinda wish we could've found a way to make this part of it. 📸CUA

Moving FBI to the Reagan Building will probably kill the building as a vibrant hangout, and with it such life as exists in Federal Triangle. Hope whatever we build on E Street is worth it.
The parking garage, events, museums, public plazas. The FBI’s proposed move to the Reagan Building could bring it all to an end.

I hope historic preservation advocates are paying attention to the schism between environmentalists willing to evolve to face new urban problems vs those who aren't. Because preservation is racing full speed ahead to the same schism for the same reasons.

There are undeniable charms to a detached house w/ a yard. But suburbia isn't just that. It's also dense apartment clusters. And it is truly truly stupid to have laws mandating that this kind of density be fenced into a driving-required pod where shops & amenities are banned.

Atlanta is basically Arlington if there were no DC. Narrow strip of high rises along a subway, surrounded by houses. (Buckhead is Tysons.)

Gravel is such an underappreciated material in park design. Softer than pavement but more inviting to walk on than grass. This is Mount Rainier's adorable and comfortable Memorial Park, rebuilt 2024.
