If @MayorBowser and @councilofdc cared about #visionzero, they would have @DCDPW working every night and weekend to tow cars like these, which are both tow-eligible for unpaid tickets and in towaway zones. This crosswalk is next to a @dcpl branch and playground.

I left federal employment 9/5. My last severance and leave payouts came soon after the government reopened. Still getting paper notices (as a fed, I opted into e-notices) showing that the government paid me $0 this pay period. Thanks, I know, no need to send a letter about it.

Fun fact as I chill on hold with @SocialSecurity: hearing offices (& processing center rep call center, iirc) have a different hold song than the field offices & teleservice centers!
washingtonpost.com
This musician wrote a song nearly 20 years ago about not waiting. Hundreds of millions have heard it -- while on hold, waiting.

NEW: Very happy to see that customers were notified rather quickly about the report of smoke at Metro's L'Enfant Plaza Station. That was at 9:21 a.m. It's very important to keep passengers informed. Do you know who else needs to be promptly informed? That answer, of course, is

Whereas some people look at DC's rivers & see pollution, others see potential. I spent time with some local fisherman — including fishing influencer Ernie the Hog Snatcher — and got a close look at what fishing in DC's waters means to them. 🎣 @51stnews

We hit the banks of the Potomac and Anacostia with "Ernie the Hog Snatcher" and a host of other locals, who say fishing brings them peace, community, and fun.

Shared a @facebook post about a pregnant tamandua @DenverZoo with my sister, who practices maternal fetal medicine nearby. Apparently that's spicy enough for a week's ban from Messenger! It's the only thing I sent in days so it had to be this. @Meta's appeals process is terrible.

I reported a parking violation. @dcdpw responded "Vehicle Not in Violation: vehicle has 1 boot eligible ticket, cannot tow vehicle." A) it had 3 tickets past the appeal window and owed $1955 overall B) it doesn't need unpaid fines to tow it from a *towaway zone*! @DCCarViolence

The @wmata McPherson Square 14th exit has 3 escalators: one is off and the other two are headed down. Why, especially with the escalator also closed, not have one up and one down?

Heads up that SNAP recipients will *begin* to miss benefits on Nov 1 but issuance is staggered throughout the month, in most states within the first 10 days but in some as late as the 28th

Another day on Wesley Pl SW; another scofflaw vehicle blocking sightlines for a crosswalk next to a library, playground, and church. @DCDPW should tow on weekends and @DDOTDC should put bike racks here like they did in the similar no parking area across the street. @charlesallen

New: During Trump’s first term, Russ Vought did more than perhaps anyone else to turn the president’s demands and personal grievances into action. In his second term, it’s now Trump who is fulfilling Vought’s goal of dismantling the federal government.

From the wholesale gutting of federal agencies to the ongoing government shutdown, Russell Vought has drawn the road map for Trump’s second term. Vought has consolidated power to an extent that...

When the Supreme Court recently allowed immigration agents to consider race during sweeps, Justice Brett Kavanaugh said that citizens shouldn’t be concerned because agents will “promptly let the individual go.” For these Americans, that wasn’t true. https://t.co/ai0h2shTkM

The government does not track how often immigration agents grab citizens. So ProPublica did. Our tally — almost certainly incomplete — includes people who were held for days without a lawyer. And...

Well, @DCDPW responded...and issued a ticket. That is something, but it doesn't make the car easier to see around! It is a tow zone for a reason. We need something blocking the road there so the sightlines remain clear, especially given the number of kids who use the crosswalk.
