Every man at some point in his life is going to lose a battle. But what makes him a man is at the midst of that battle he does not lose himself.

Robert Murray says the Blue Jays aren't done by any means and wouldn't be surprised if they get multiple more bats. "Be patient Blue Jays fans, Ross Atkins is not done."

“certainly in” on Verlander. He wants to go to a team that trains in Florida says Rosenthal. Hello, new state of the art trianing facility.

Shi mentions on Drive Time that the Jays would like 2 add one more back-end bullpen piece and probably a lefty mashing right handed hitting OF. Mentions Grossman might want more role but Mancini might b a tremendous fit (some engagement with him earlier in the season).

“I expect Toronto to still be active in the market, in free agency and trade. I wonder if they turn their attention to Bellinger now.”
@ByRobertMurray
..he also hyped up Toronto as being a really great place to play and how he’s heard such great things from players about it🙏
Morosi on Blair and Barker says Jays have “dipped their toes” in Soto market but are not significantly involved based on what he’s heard over last few days. Says Bichette would have to be involved in such a deal.

In a perfect world George Springer is back for the Jays tonight and the Raptors land the first overall pick in the draft lottery. Please!

One of John Schneider’s favourite players growing up was Don Mattingly according to
@jonmorosi
..pretty cool! Jon also mentions Cody Bellinger having a relationship with Mattingly and how this could impact his decision.

Stephen Brunt just said he was talking to Shi Davidi and they both believe there might be one more move "in the pipeline" for the Jays before the lockout...but he questions how much time they have..
At ESPN+, my winter megapreview: Why nothing has happened, what you need to know on the Ohtani market, the logic of a Soto trade, what makes Yamamoto special, the best available pitching, a grim class of bats, who's being dangled in trades and much more.

Passan says Bassitt really liked the idea of playing in Toronto - loves the city. There are options out there if they trade a C (Teams like Miami Marlins want to go out and get a catcher, mentions Guardians as well)

The Arizona Fall League is over, so I canvassed scouts about the players they liked the most. (Good news for the Phillies, Blue Jays, Red Sox, Rangers and others.)
For

, here are the top 10 fall-league standouts according to evaluators:
I wonder if Atkins is targeting Pablo Lopez. There were rumours that Teo was offered in a Lopez and Anderson package last year and Atkins seems to circle back to his guys (Gausman, Kikuchi). Rumours that Jays have scouts at Marlins game today and tomorrow.

The Blue Jays are willing to give Shohei Ohtani all the time, space and privacy he needs, even as they continue to lay groundwork for whatever comes next, whether the two-way superstar joins them or not. (

As the likes of George Springer and Jose Berrios joined a hopeful Blue Jays group Sunday in Dunedin, the front office continued to explore further adds — motivated by the "momentum" built last season.

The

CF Bryan Reynolds.
Man, I love the Belt move. It’s just such a perfect fit. Add a righty hitting outfielder and this offence is the deepest in the AL with so many platoon weapons.
All evidence suggests

are pushing hard for Shohei Ohtani. They've made their pitch, along with a few other finalists. Interest seems mutual, but others are pushing too. Now it's up to Ohtani.
Shi Davidi said on Tim and Friends said that he and BNS have heard all day that "Jays are all over pitching in every aspect of the market." (certainly on the top end after being in on Verlander - where do they go from here? He asks)

"Nelson Cruz : Cruz is an impact middle-of-the-order bat with strong leadership and mentor skills. The Rays and A’s are his best trade fits, and it’s not even close. But don’t sleep on the Blue Jays, who could look to get Taylor Rogers and Cruz in a trade." ..via

listening to this (shortened) interview again, it’s pretty clear the Jays, from what Shapiro says (a day before Varsho trade), will still sign or trade for a notable bullpen piece. Interested to see who it will be

It has been quiet today between the Yankees and Padres, per sources. Rivals see Toronto as a real contender for Soto, but believe they are waiting to see if they’re getting Ohtani. Could still pick up again for Yanks.
In an information vacuum it’s so easy to end up with the fevered, fact-free frenzy that surrounded Shohei Ohtani and the Blue Jays on Friday.

Last day of winter meetings😢. Will the

do something today? For all of the talk about people pursuing catching, not one has been moved or signed😤.
BNS says even though the Blue Jays have spoken with Grossman, he doesn't expect that "situation to develop in the next couple of weeks." The Blue Jays, as currently constructed are "not a place where an established player is necessarily going to look"
Shi says he doesn't think the Blue Jays are done, could see them potentially exploring some stuff on the minor league side or might be still poking around at trades, should the opportunity arise. Thinks bigger things are complete at this point.

BREAKING: Right-hander Chris Bassitt and the Toronto Blue Jays are in agreement on a three-year, $63 million contract, pending physical, sources familiar with the deal tell ESPN. Story on Toronto making a big move and adding to its rotation, free at ESPN:
Back in 2019, the Blue Jays were trying to entice reluctant free agents. Now, they’re a wild-card club seeking to refine a strong group.
But though they’re a more attractive venture, the work is more complicated — and has higher stakes. (

BNS says Jays are motivated behind the scenes to improve OF still..mentions Conforto and Brantley..mentions Varsho (on top of Reynolds who was mentioned by the host) could be interesting..potential Kepler one for one for Jansen (speculation on his part).
