Congrats @alvarfparis Great to see this out
A new study examining the connection between depression and dementia provides critical insights into how #depression might be both a risk factor for and an early sign of #dementia.

Thanks Joe! I’ll be honest we were mildly disappointed to find no ‘smoking gun’, I.e a disease-specific signature of clonal expansion. For me has highlighted how valuable it is to have positive disease controls to avoid making spurious claims of disease specificity!

The newest @RegeneronDNA method, REMETA, from Tyler Joseph, @marchini, and co. is a game changer - enabling the ability to reconstruct gene-based test associations from single variant summary statistics (and LD).
Introducing a new method called REMETA from the Regeneron Genetics Center (RGC) @RegeneronDNA for meta-analysis of gene-based tests using summary statistics https://t.co/Bv3pqMB1iy This is great work from Tyler Joseph. Pre-print is here https://t.co/CffQXSZPv2

One of the strongest risk loci for SLE lies on the MHC region. Earlier work by Steve McCarroll's group (Kamitaki et al Nature 2020; https://t.co/G1Qdm9Tn8d) used African ancestry samples to break down the LD between HLA and Complement gene variants and showed that the risk locus

This is great news (COI: I am a long established consultant and shareholder to @nanopore) - epigenetic information on long reads at scale! (bonus - also excellent SV resolution coming our way). Haplotype methyl+hydroxymethyl resolution. 50,000 and then hopefully the full 500,000.
Today a landmark genetics partnership between @UK_Biobank, @nanopore, @SciTechgovuk, @GenomicsEngland and @NHSEngland to better understand the root causes of cancer and dementia has been announced. Find out more: https://t.co/7YpwpJM7Aw
