The country wants this. I've just come to accept that. I think they'll regret it when they get it full force, but they clearly want it. Let them have it. Just pray the rule of law survives it.

Isn't it pretty obvious at this point that basically no country gave Trump and Bessent what they wanted in negotiations because the asks were insane? . Yeah, I think ultimately we *don't* impose 25-35% tariffs on everyone because that's insane, but. can't rule it out.

Government jobs never pay bonuses (beyond small merit bonuses) or give big equity payouts, either. You take a hit to lifetime income for equivalent levels of education and skill for job security and the pension. Yeah, the pension *is* worth a lot, but let's not lose perspective.
One thing I never realized until I moved to the DC area is the absolutely insane amount of people who think they are entitled to a job in government - forever. It is part of the rot in DC and they need a reality check about how the actual world works.

We really don't understand consciousness and this has been debated for millennia at this point. It's not a math problem to be solved or mapping a given part of the brain gives you the answer.

If consciousness is a simply a matter of intelligence, then AI is already conscious. And we're pretty sure it isn't.

Credit growth is annualized around 6-8% in the last several weeks. That's not a sign that credit conditions are particularly restrictive. Add rate cuts? Credit growth could accelerate a lot.
