The country wants this. I've just come to accept that. I think they'll regret it when they get it full force, but they clearly want it. Let them have it. Just pray the rule of law survives it.

Among other things, if you look at who was in mental hospitals before de-institutionalization it’s 47% women and 20% senior citizens at a time when the national age structure was much younger. This is not the crime/prison demographic at all. https://t.co/p9P3p73H7a

I remember the old days when Chesterfield County was a solidly Republican county. Now, it's the margin by which a Dem carries it that tells you whether the Dem is up statewide. Harris carried it by 9% vs. a 6% statewide win.

Pretty much what I expected. Musou games rarely rate above 8 out of 10 due to their inherently repetitive gameplay.

I don't think there's much doubt this will be the last game of this vintage of Hyrule. Incidentally, I've always really liked the Warriors style hack and slash games as mindless stress relief.

The idea that Democrats can dispense with persuading heterodox swing voters -- by moving left to mobilize its progressive base -- rests on nothing but bad intuitions, per @simon_bazelon's report https://t.co/PV1ELJkam5

China actually is an outlier on the import side - especially when it comes to imports of manufactures. Net of processing imports (typically imported chips for reexport), total imports of manufactures are only 3% of GDP ... 2/2

Deeply misleading. Big economies trade less than small economies, so exports to GDP isn't the best metric. Look instead at the size of China's manufacturing surplus -- which is huge v the world economy and large v China's own economy 1/

China today is less export-dependent than every other global top 10 economy except one: the USA. The easiest way to assess this is the exports-to-GDP ratio. Per the World Bank, in 2023 China's exports were roughly 19.7% of GDP. It ranks #159/195 in the world by this metric. 🧵

Ronald Reagan loved tariffs. You might disagree. You might even have some evidence to the contrary. But you have to ask yourself, is this worth jeopardizing your pending merger with another media conglomerate over? Ronald Reagan loved tariffs.
