Fast finality is not just a meme. It's actually coming. Slot time reduction is graduating from the research phase. @MorphNetrunner and I have been working on prototypes and now ours successfully transition from 12s to 6s and remain stable over several epochs. Check out the code

@lex_node This is the correct take. It used to be good enough to say that on paper L2s make sense, and eventually will bring benefits. Now that real world adoption is here, we need to make sure the interop benefits materialize asap. It's a big priority at the EF https://t.co/CM8sOhoi96

The only serious technical argument in this post is fast L1 finality—something we as L2s can neither fix nor mitigate. We fully depend on the L1 progress rate here. I'd told @ethereumfndn leadership earlier in summer that's the ONLY thing we care about on the ETH roadmap.

Interop is IMO the most urgent problem to solve for L1/L2 to feel like one Ethereum & the best argument vs Corp L1. Apps can live anywhere with seamless flow of funds between chains, and full abstraction from end-users. Still need to reduce slot time & finality on L1 for main
