Wife took a new job and we decided not to spend $2100 for COBRA health insurance for the month of December. In the past week my son got an ear infection, wife got a sinus infection and now I have either the flu or COVID, follow me for a how-to in poor decision making.

@NieuwenhuisSeed End all subsidies, end crop insurance, break up large ag companies (not limited to, but especially seed companies). Loose the more is better mantra (yield or acres). Break up the packers. Move away from mostly corn and soybean. Cut out the endless middlemen.

@Tyne_Ag @realDonaldTrump Lost around 5700 hundred in the last decade. Cow numbers relatively unchanged. Fewer and larger just like all other farms. Its nothing new.... decade before that probably wasnt any different. Not a Trump fan but not where blame for this issue belongs.

@chris_souder @RRXtend If you have a big pile of horse shit and reduce it 50 percent that’s still a pretty good sized pile of horse shit... only damaging 1.1 million acres is not pretty good progress... it’s embarrassing for the entire ag industry that anyone would consider that good in anyway.

@clintwfischer When I started out I thought we I want to farm all the acres I could get. We were spread out all over creation. Didn’t take long to get over doing that, farm about half as many acres and make more than a good living. No interest in scaling up and becoming a people manager.

@drich82 I expect the terms laid out in the bid request ( ie quantity, quality, delivery date, terms etc.). Nothing more and nothing less. Why should I care about the suppliers margins? Bayer, Corteva, Koch, CF, Nutrien, CBOT, local ethanol plant, etc don’t give a crap about my margins.

@hendricksonfarm Well you see the actual cost of drying with the gas/electric bill or drying/shrink charges vs. a debatable yield loss. Also drying super wet corn sucks. I like it between 20 and 22, if it gets dryer, it wasn’t because we weren’t out there trying to get or beans were a priority.
