has anyone else tried ~jhana meditation but for sleep?
access concentration -> find a sleepy feeling in your body -> shift your concentration there and let it expand through your entire consciousness -> become extra sleepy, fall asleep
I'm hiring a principal scientist/director at
@proxbio
to take over my role of leading the absolutely stellar group of scientists on our platform team. Strong chem bio + proximity background is best, but leadership skills are most important. Please share + DM if interested, ty! :)
recently got some unbelievably cool data for one of our lead programs, will be a while until we can share publicly but man it's gonna be huge! I love my job 😇
high throughput phenotypic screening is our best bet to solve the most important challenges in drug discovery right now, and the ability to do this in vivo is huge!
it's been awesome to watch
@GordianBio
's progress over the years from up close, can't wait to see what's next 🚀
Shouldn’t aging be part of drug discovery for diseases of aging?
Gordian exists to move therapeutic testing from plastic wells and young mice into a living environment with all the complexity present in patients with age-related disease.
We’re now…
Michael is simply one of the best there is, and I know of no other person with more potential to change SF politics for the better than him.
He is one of the rare individuals possessed of both deep kindness and empathy coupled to absolute, unstoppable hyper-competence. A…
I’m running for office for San Francisco DCCC on March 5th, 2024!
In the city where ppl are building AI & longevity drugs, it's crazy that the basics don't work:
Streets are unsafe
New housing is blocked
We don't teach 8th grade algebra
I'm running to change SF 🧵
for jhana meditation you create a runaway positive feedback loop by finding a positive sensation, focusing on it completely which creates more positive sensation, focusing on that newer/stronger positive feeling, repeat until bliss
you could imagine creating a runaway positive…
the only influencing I want to do on here is to convince ppl to go out & stop procrastinating getting healthier

@armandcognetta

i had to say this: the margin for victory for the last seat on the DCCC in 2012 was 32 votes (!!).

@SFDemsForChange
?
people who say ideas don’t matter have never experienced, on a gut level, how powerful a truly good idea can be
ideas are everything (execution is important too tho)

One major hypothesis is just that FAAH/anandamide don’t modulate pain in humans to the same extent they do in rodents (where most of the studies showing analgesia come from). The FAAH-OUT person is perplexing but could be that congenital FAAH inhibition turns off pain signaling…
@Atelfo
Here's another way to put this: our current therapeutic modality toolkit still only gives us the most crude level of biological control.
EG most small molecules (other than GPCR drugs) are inhibitors. It's a general physical principle that it's easier to break something than it…
I wrote & analyzed a 20-person list of anyone I've seen go sustainedly super-saiyan (i.e., anyone who's become radically more capable of creating what they want to see in the world). 18/20 all did the same thing. Can you guess what it was?
Hint – it wasn't a:
• transformative…
@Atelfo
Excellent read!
The only part I disagree with is: "The most significant factor preventing us from taking better molecules into clinical trials is not our ability to design arbitrary molecules, but our (lack of) understanding of underlying disease biology. In other words, we…
Called a voter last night, and it was wild to hear: "oh I saw you on TV!"
Fun to be in this
@GrowSF
TV ad.
I'm grateful for all of their work to elect outcomes oriented leaders to fix SF.

Something I’ve learned is that there is a distinction between just acting with agency and actually feeling on a gut level that you have agency (which then also naturally leads to acting with agency).
The latter is better but I think a lot of people get stuck in just the former.
@bashu_thanks
recently I've been saying "good job Armand!" in my head all the time for everything
it's basically the opposite of constant negative self-talk
@pottslab
Really interesting. I wonder what % of the time you'd see neo-interactions like this if you took a protein array and incubated it with any protein +/- a diverse set of ligands for that protein. My guess is that it may be more common than people think
