CEO of @untillabs I enjoy helping new technologies into the Overton window of acceptable discourse

Taking a first step towards hibernation pods :) Just announced a $58M Series A led by @foundersfund to back the core roadmap reversibly cryopreserve human organs -> help transplant patients + build sustainable business -> accelerate R&D for whole body cryo
We’ve raised $100M+ to date, we are developing reversible cryopreservation for patients in need of donor organs, and we are hiring 🫀🎉🚀

One cool reframe for me recently was anxiety as stuck ambition - a lot of the time when I’m anxious, it’s because I really want something to happen and have a lot of energy towards it, but it (gets stuck bc not enough clarity?) and I end up spiraling. Instead of shoving down

love the molecule viz on the homepage - can't stop scrolling it. cryo protocols are molecular, not mysterious!
We partnered with the exceptional team at @basementstudio to create a new brand and website for Until. We’re so excited to finally share what we’ve been working on: ✨ https://t.co/5gNzOZSiZw✨

the last few minutes of the 2025 Jeff Buckley documentary might be the most beautiful I've ever seen, and make me think deeply about how I want the products or things I make feel to others in the last scene of the movie, his mom listens to a voicemail Jeff sent her before his

interesting to me that biology evolved to deal with thermal noise (baked into its architecture w processes run on diffusion and concentration), vs much of the architecture we try to scale down to the nanoscale starts fragile to this + we try to add in later

sad (but interesting) to read about inventor Thomas Midgley Jr, who developed both leaded gasoline *and* the first CFCs (ie Freon) "had more adverse impact on the atmosphere than any other single organism in Earth's history", "an instinct for the regrettable that was almost

actually super interesting - some of the other equations for rate dependence on temperature did fit the data better, but were 'theoretically sterile' / less easy to interpret, and therefore not favored dark days indeed
Ostwald is quoted as saying "temperature dependence is one of the darkest chapters in chemical mechanics" thermodynamics is so dramatic, my god (also the below, which has been shared prev)

I spoke too soon, it actually was pretty dark days

where now A' is temperature independent. Recently Gardiner ( 2 ) has shown that eqn. (3) applies satisfactorily, and better than eqn. (I), to a number of reactions; he has also discussed reasons for...

one underrated technique for visualization - getting comfortable with the logarithmic scale (just add the numbers in exponents of 10!!) -> to associate stepping up / down scales in an infinitely vast world (powers of 10 style) with quantitative scales (10^10 atoms = 10 steps)

this is a naive q, but in the 'bitter lesson' essay, isn't convolution for image recognition an example of an architecture inspired by the brain? seems like brain inspired architecture -> simplify as much as possible to allow it to scale with more computation is more correct? I

interesting to try to pin down what temperature means at the molecular level in biological systems like...(from what I understand) it doesn't really exist. IN THE SENSE THAT biological systems are not at equilibrium (at least, if you are, probably something has gone wrong!), and

Would love some advice on how to write well! For context: I've written (and plan to write) a bunch of scientific content, but haven't published almost any of it. I'm not satisfied with it - I feel that I'm trying to express things I really care about, and can feel the ideas

aw, so agree w this - learning how to manage stress to toggle into open mode from deeply stressful founder-y situations took like ~3 years for me but was super super worth it
There are two modes of thinking: Open and Closed. Most founders get stuck in closed mode. The great ones master both. But there's good news: It's possible to learn Open Mode.

Some questions I've had while trying to visualize concepts in biology vs mathematics I've noticed that when trying to think about biology, I can sometimes get into a state which feels immersive, exciting and relevant - Immersive - I'm 'in' the world of the cell and feel as
