It was a wonderful morning to celebrate our nation’s founding as my office walked in both the Capitol Hill Community and Palisades Fourth of July parades. On days like today we remember that in order for democracy to work for all of us, it must include all of us. #DCstatehood

May Eric rest in peace. Too many innocent lives taken by gunfire in our city. This one just a few blocks from my home, but it happens across our city far too often.

Senators are not getting calls from their constituents telling them the issue they really care about is who can vote in DC's local elections. This is not an attack that will resonate--Democratic senators don't have to vote to un-elect my constituents to get re-elected themselves.

The Republican Party has been engaged in an all-out assault on our democracy. I am working to convince my Democratic Senate colleagues not to join in that assault by overturning DC local laws that do not apply to their constituents and that they have no right to change.

Wherever one lands on the idea of taxpayer funding to bring the Commanders back to D.C., we should all agree that it is our elected representatives who should be deciding.

The President could not unilaterally give the RFK land to the Commanders. That would take an act of Congress, which would require GOP leadership to spend the time to surmount a filibuster, which is very unlikely to happen. No one should be taking this threat seriously.

Hard to summarize just how bad this bill is in one tweet, but this one does a pretty good job. If I was a voting Senator, I would proudly vote no on this horrific bill and it likely would not pass the Senate. We need #dcstatehood

Dems have a good chance of picking up this seat, Susan Collins’ seat, and enough seats to flip the House in 2026. Then we just need to win Ron Johnson’s seat and the presidency in 2028 to have a pro-D.C. statehood trifecta. Don’t let anyone tell you D.C. statehood isn’t possible.

It doesn't matter what these candidates' personal opinion is on any local D.C. law--they don't represent us and have no right to make policy for us. And a willingness to attack democracy in D.C. betrays a general lack of principles that I find troubling

The Democratic nominee to represent Fairfax County in Congress is being decided TOMORROW. If you live in the district, I strongly urge you NOT to vote for @AmyRomaVA, Ross Branstetter, or @PriyaPunnooseMD, who are anti-D.C. Home Rule. We can do better in this deep-blue district

We need the public’s help to bring the kind of energy we saw in NYC to D.C. If you're tired of a politics-as-usual that's insular and small, if you want a new politics that's joyful, that dares to dream: call your Councilmembers and tell them to fund Initiative 83!.

Councilmembers can vote to implement the will of the people of D.C. by funding Initiative 83 AND still win their re-election campaigns. And they might find RCV campaigns more fun and joyful than the campaigns they're used to running!.

RCV does not benefit “progressives" or any other type of candidate. It benefits unifying candidates who reach out to all communities. The last RCV NYC mayoral election was won by @ericadamsfornyc, and RCV has elected moderates @RepGolden in Maine and @lisamurkowski in Alaska.

I know that our Councilmembers support #DCstatehood because they believe that the will of the people of D.C. should be respected. If they believe that, then they should not ignore the 73% of voters who voted to implement RCV in the District.
