On top of this, we have a Health Secretary behaving like a playground bully, referring to doctors as juvenile delinquents and moaning minnies for demanding their worth. You don't end strikes by insulting those who form the very backbone of the NHS.

Imagine someone nicks ÂŁ40 from your ÂŁ100. They give you ÂŁ20 back, then call you greedy for asking for the rest. Thatâs what doctors are facing. They are being paid 20% less in real terms than they were in 2008. Full pay restoration is not an unreasonable demand.

Whilst many colleagues across different workforces do see common sense, applauding the headline of the article which they should, On rule for me, one rule for thee is a barrier to honest discussion about standards we should expect when dealing with peopleâs lives
The hypocrisy that exists within the health system at the moment is staggering âYou canât replace any profession with lesser trained peopleâ Doctors in the #NHS: âWhen you say âanyâ..â âShut up and respect multidisciplinary workingâ And we wonder.. Why are doctors so angry.

Anyone else remember that respiratory virus crisis where we were thrown to the wolves and were rewarded with pay cuts?

There is no right time to strike. The winter crisis is now a perpetual crisis. The real threat to patient safety is chronic understaffing and underfunding of our healthcare system. If we want to fix the NHS and deliver the care patients deserve, we must fix retention of staff.

I'm Voting NO. These arenât new jobs, theyâre converted LED posts with no permanence, in 4 years weâll be back in the same crisis. No pay offer, so retention collapses further and talent keeps leaving. I would encourage others to vote NO on this offer. This deal fixes nothing
I'm appealing to resident doctors to vote for this deal, which will boost job opportunities and put more money in their back pockets We can draw a line under the strikes before Christmas. We can end the disruption and rebuild the NHS together. https://t.co/a5j9slU57B

.@fletchjack from the BMA explains they've been trying to get round the table with Wes Streeting for several months but Streeting didn't even bother replying to their letter Now we're in Dec with a Flu epidemic & Streeting is accusing resident doctors of endangering patients

You wouldnât have to move at âbreakneckâ speed if youâd started trying to resolve these disputes earlier, instead of pushing needless rhetoric. And on pay, so weâre clear, youâre saying; âSurrender your leverage so we can talk, but weâre too far apart, so I wonât talkâ?! đ€
@srturaga This isnât right. Emergency legislation in Jan to make sure we deal with prioritisation for current round. Weâre moving at breakneck speed, reducing application ratios to less than 2:1. On FPR, open to talking to Jack and team on MYD but - for now - weâre a way apart.

Respectfully @wesstreeting regardless of the outcome of the vote on this, the way you have conducted yourself and your discourse around this I suspect means you personally have no chance at rebuilding a relationship with doctors.

I think it's irresponsible for the government to call experienced doctors "moaning minnies" and "juvenile delinquents." It's concerning that the gov's approach to resolving the dispute is essentially bullying tactics and propaganda, rather than engaging with ALL key issues.
Keir Starmer warns BMA it would be 'irresponsible' to push ahead with strikes next week, particularly given the flu crisis hitting hospitals 'Iâm very concerned with the action of the BMA. They are being irresponsible in my view. We have already put in place quite a significant

Not enough clarity on this, despite acknowledging specialty training bottleneck crisis last year No definitive solution for our workforce crisis Poor track for trust that things will get done No mention on pay incl the cut Streeting recommended for 26/27 Itâs a no from me
Wes Streeting has made new offer to resident doctors in England - 4,000 more training places over 3 years and emergency legislation to prioritise UK medical graduates. BMA say it will consult members on whether to call off next weeks strike - online survey till Monday

Doctors are crying out for reform so this post is completely disingenuous. You had the chance to sign a multi year deal that would have seen strikes off the table for many years, which would have dramatically improved NHS productivity. Accept your abysmal failure of leadership.
Just settle with the doctors. That was common advice I received. Coming from an NHS family, I get the pressures doctors face. But without reform, higher pay means higher taxes and no better outcomes. I set out the reforms needed in @thetimes today đ https://t.co/vI1mgqnsz9

There are thousands of trained doctors in the UK right now â unemployed. Not because theyâre unnecessary. Not because thereâs no demand. But because the government refuses to fund the NHS roles we desperately need. In this video, I explain how government austerity, fiscal

Medicine is a global marketplace and doctors are leaving in record numbers to other countries. Other healthcare systems actually want to retain doctors whereas the UK does everything to drive doctors out. The government must hold its head in shame in the way it treats its docs.

The Kingâs Fund says one of the most important foundations for NHS reform is compassionate leadership. Meanwhile this Government calls doctors âmoaning minniesâ, âjuvenile delinquentsâ and âtoxicâ. Hard to fix the NHS when those holding it together are treated with contempt.
