They have free healthcare, free higher education, rent control, no affordable housing shortage, & the best Manufacturing jobs for the biggest international companies. Brother, I would PAY YOU if you could help me trade in my American Empire citizenship for a better life w the CCP
Yimbyism, which is just Reaganomics- is 100% a right wing movement- even if its core constituency is neolibs that are “socially liberal but fiscally conservative🥴” they’re just conservatives
@whstancil
I think you're the only loser that believes the project of "liberal democracy" was successful or worth saving. Everyone else is in debt & too busy working one of their multiple real jobs. Not everyone gets paid a university salary to tweet all day, Will.
@whstancil
Everyone I'm hearing from is dealing with 9 round interviews that go nowhere & lots of fake job listings... Not sure what imaginary easy job market you believe exists, but it's harder than ever right now
@focusfronting
@EoinHiggins_
She’s kind of built her entire career on ‘divorce is the best thing that can happen to you and no woman benefits from marriage’- so I imagine she sees the idea of someone deciding to work on their marriage as uniquely insulting- nauseating even.
@NY_Knux
You think people wanting to talk to you is disrespectful- i just assumed it was bc you didnt like people, but i guess yr right, wrong word, yr just a pr!ck at best & a narcissist at worst
@JamesTCarterII
Further down the same thread- maybe the worst thing he’s ever said but it really boils down to why he is the main character on here every day & constantly wrong.
Actual smart people know that there’s a lot they don’t know
@whstancil
I dont think people who can barely afford housing, healthcare, childcare, education, or retirement are going to remember this as an economic golden age… unless of course they retire into homelessness, which seems v likely in this economic downward trajectory
@ryanwhite19750
@whstancil
You think 95% of the workforce does not have people with side hustles.
V curious how you believe they're tracking people's Paypal, eBay, Twitch, & Cashapp jobs
@whstancil
@BeijingPalmer
“Is housing, healthcare, education, food, & transportation affordable or not?” Is not new & is still as unaffordable as it has always been- in fact prices for all of these are the highest they’ve ever been as well
@anothercohen
Very cool to see another company with no useful real world applications get hyped. Surely there won’t be any real world consequences to placing mountains of capital on aether
@whstancil
It is not good faith to insist despite all odds that the people with a history of committing war crimes in the midst of bombing gaza, didn’t bomb this ONE target they roof knocked a few days prior & told to evacuate. In fact it’s as bad faith as what yr doing here
@the_transit_guy
Its also the largest giveaway of public streets to private real estate & business the city has ever done. We should get paid for it, or it should be available for FREE to the public- not just patrons of that street’s businesses
@whstancil
who EXACTLY is doing tik tok dances about the economy Will Stoolsample? I wanna know who this super popular account that's brainwashing all of America is.... in fact- I should ALREADY know them, since they're so popular!!
It's very important to repeat over & over that YIMBYism is supply side reaganomics. You cannot describe the mechanics of YIMBYism would lower housing costs without describing Reaganomics & it drives them absolutely insane when you point this out.
YIMBYs: new housing supply will compete rents down, lowering the value of land rent and thus allowing for more development at lower rents
Me: Why not simply set rent control at $500 for new builds and skip straight to the punch?
@whstancil
Oh NOW? You don't need the NYTimes to do a video investigation? You don't need to wait until the dust clears to know FOR SURE FOR SURE if the IOF dropping bombs on a captive population is bad?
@whstancil
6 percent of the sub minimum wage american tipped workers who get paid $2-$3 is an extra 12-16 CENTS an hour my guy. Not the flex you think it is
@RamblingGroyper
@annakhachiyan
Not very useful “body armor” when you know the IOF is indiscriminately slaughtering civilians… & will 100% shoot through 20 kids to maybe wing 1 Hamas militant
@ChristoSilvia
Right- so adding more supply at the high end doesn’t do anything to alleviate pricing on the low-end because they aren’t increasing the supply of affordable housing
@whstancil
So you want media people to LIE & tell everyone the economy is good when it’s bad for a lot of people? In the same way you can’t convince people they have money they don’t have- you also can’t convince news reporters of a story that isn’t real
@AllIsFreeForMe
@dsfence64
@Pest174
@fuelgrannie
Why do you clowns need “studies” instead of cities? Nowhere on earth have we built sooooo much housing that it knocked $500/mo off everyone’s housing payment, citywide. You believe fictions bc they have graphs. Yr a mark.
@whstancil
How blind do you have to be to not see this obvious nosedive that happened while Biden was at the wheel? You think people just forgot that dramatic shift?
Property developer and CEO Tim Gurner: "We need to see unemployment rise. Unemployment has to jump 40, 50 percent in my view. We need to see pain in the economy. We need to remind people that they work for the employer, not the other way around."
@mosb1000
@PippengerHarlo
People ARE allowed to build housing. They have done so in every major American city, every day you have been alive on this earth. The ideology is trying to “fix” a problem we don’t have.
@whstancil
Crazy idea, but low wage earners who are v likely rent burdened aren’t who’s seeing these gains. The landlord they’re handing these gains right over to is
@whstancil
No, you're just pointing to extremes to set up two fake strawmen that prevent you from contending with his real position; unbridled financial support for a genocide being committed in an apartheid state on a captive population within a concentration camp.
P gross man.
@whstancil
There is no multi-part to this. It's not complicated. You've just been screeching that you don't understand how people are struggling despite the line going up for ages & seem incapable of understanding that the line is imperfect data.
The dumbest thing this guy keeps repeating is that “people with low paying jobs” are doing better than people with high paying jobs. This is never true. There is no scenario on earth where being the poorest member of society is easier or better than being wealthy
People with low-paying jobs are beating inflation the most. Grocery prices haven’t been rising for a year, and certainly haven’t doubled. This is data-free misery porn that spreads because people aren’t willing to correct it.
@mosheroperandi
Dude- this is in direct response to the 2020 protests- you think they’re doing book readings in all these “real world simulation” buildings?
"2/3 of our citizens are living paycheck to paycheck."
This is not true
Median household networth in 2022 was $193k.
That includes $39k in financial assets and $8k in transaction(checking or savings) accounts.
@WyoRobP
@ShaiDavidai
Who do you think is attempting the Holocaust here Rob? The wardens of the Palestinian concentration camp who are denying their prisoners elctricity & water, or those captive within the concentration camp?
@slavojtrex
@katewillett
The gentrification inherent in YIMBYism, which is a movement to displace low income, immigrant, & POC populations from inner cities to make room for affluent white guys like you- is inherently racist beyond salvation & your
#notallYIMBYs
routine doesn’t change that.
This is a perfect & concise encapsulation of the housing discourse & I wish there weren’t so many dipshits actively trying to muddle this conversation.
It really is this simple
@katewillett
so, in theory…
good: build more affordable housing, protect tenants rights, etc.
bad: build new, super expensive housing only, kick tenants out, etc.
assuming this makes it easy to confuse the hell out of ordinary folks not following the ins and outs
Calling it now,
@garrytan
will be San Francisco mayor.
It will be a tough but much needed turn around job.

I'm sorry to be the one to tell you this, but literally everything you believe is a lie. NYC has more housing now than at any point in recorded history & ALSO has the highest rents on record.

OK- NYC already boasts the highest residential zoning in the entire country & only 9% of its land is SFH zoning, & we've been at the high end of a construction boom (nationwide) for nearly a decade- so... it looks like the YIMBYism isn't giving us low rents man.
@theurbaneist
@katewillett
Ok- Tokyo’s real estate costs 6x what manhattans does per sf & Houston has seen faster rises in rent increases as a percentage than NYC has in the last 10 years
