Our city has major problems, but we can fix them. I’m not leaving and neither is
@sbuss

We’re working every day to build a city where new residents are welcomed, new businesses are encouraged, and families can put down their roots.
We’re making progress. 👉

The abrupt acceleration and braking (with no sound cues) seems to mess with human bodies.
Outdoor dining is one of the best things to happen in San Francisco recently. But two years ago Dean Preston tried to kill outdoor dining forever.
Every day that Dean Preston is a supervisor, San Francisco will get worse. We must vote him out as soon as possible.
Reason
#15
to Dump Dean Preston: Outdoor dining saved countless small businesses during Covid, but Dean tried to kill the program.
Dean Preston supported Aaron Peskin's attempt to kill the outdoor dining program by making it illegal to secure the spaces overnight.
Every single poll I’ve seen shows that SF residents want Chesa Boudin recalled. But that will only happen if you vote.
Vote YES on H
San Francisco has same day voter registration so if you haven’t registered or you moved, you can still walk into your precinct tomorrow and vote.
Votes to elect Chesa Boudin in 2019:
* First choice: 68,805 (13.9% of voters)
* After RCV elimination: 86,712 (17.5% of voters)
Votes to recall Chesa Boudin in 2022:
* 101,112 (20.4% of voters)
* 44k ballots to count
By far more people voted to recall Boudin than voted him in.
I'm confused by
@Benioff
:
He helped pass a tax causing many companies to leave SF, he fled to Hawaii when Covid hit, he threatened to take Dreamforce elsewhere, he complained the city isn't doing enough to be safe.
Now he says SF is back. Marc: are you doing anything to help??
SF will soon be sold out again! Never seen commercial real estate leasing at this rate. # of companies looking for huge amounts of space is incredible. “AI companies seek up to 1 million square feet of office space in the city, according to JLL.” SF❤️🤖
Just this week:
* An LA City Council member blamed catalytic converter thefts on Toyota making it too easy
* The CA Attorney General blamed Kia and Hyundai thefts on their lack of car alarms
* An SF Chronicle op-ed blamed the closure of the Whole Foods on "bad planning"

I will never stop fighting for San Francisco. Today was a fucking great day. Our Board of Supervisors passed legislation to make outdoor dining permanent, and
@sbuss
and I raised ~$25k to help the school board recall campaign.
Don't give up. We fight because we love this city.
Never forgot that time Hillary Ronen blamed tech for San Francisco’s problems.
Sorry Supervisor, but your policies created this mess. We need more housing, increased public safety, and great public schools.
Know Your Supervisor, District 9: Hillary Ronen was elected in 2016 by 9,281 votes. She called to defund the police before criticizing SFPD for not doing enough. She opposes all market-rate housing and has kept bike share out of the south Mission.
Fucker in a black mustang with no plates is blasting around our neighborhood at 100mph. Doing donuts. Tons of my neighbors are outside and angry.
This guy will kill someone.
I got a ride in a fully autonomous car tonight. It was flawless and the car was definitely safer and obeyed all laws.
This is the future, and it’s starting in San Francisco.
Yesterday ~75% of San Franciscans voted to recall our Board of Education, yet Supervisor Walton thinks the recall was driven by “closet Republicans”.
Who wants to run for D10 supervisor this November and replace Walton? DMs are open.
Outside Lands set up hundreds of bathrooms overnight. San Francisco is spending $1.7m to build one in Noe Valley. Maybe Another Planet Entertainment should run the city.
SF Land Use Committee is currently discussing illegal and unsafe behavior by *e-scooter* riders in SF. I am not joking.
Supervisors, please visit my neighborhood and watch cars traveling at 40mph+ blow through stop signs and red lights.
SF Supervisors who have quit Twitter: Connie Chan, Dean Preston, Myrna Melgar, Hillary Ronen, Shamann Walton.
Our worst Supervisors can't take the heat when constituents publicly tell them they are doing a bad job. They need to go.
November 2024 we'll have a common sense board.
Whoa. A friend of mine is looking for an apartment in SF. He found a nice one offered at $4350/month. The landlord received so much interest he increased the price to $6500. 😳 😡
@Jason
@garrytan
@DavidSacks
We currently have 4 common sense supervisors on the board, out if 11 (it was only 2 before the last election).
There are 6 supervisor elections in 2024. We need to win 2 seats to get a majority.
@GrowSF
is going to have a candidate challenging every seat. We will get a majority.
At today's
@sfbos
meeting, San Francisco Mayor
@LondonBreed
had some spicy words for Supervisor
@DeanPreston
, a progressive lawmaker who criticized her handling of the city's drug crisis.
See clips of their exchange below. ⬇️
Garry and I have been friends for 25 years, we went to college together, started a company together, and now we're working together even more closely to fix San Francisco. 🙌🏼
🚨🚨BIG ANNOUNCEMENTS TODAY!🚨🚨
1.

@GrowSF
Board of Directors!
2. We're launching a fellowship program! We want you!
3. Dump Dean has 200 donors, help us get to 300!
This guy literally told me to "go back to where the hell you came from". 😲
I've lived in San Francisco longer than any other place in my life. This is my home, and it's where I'm raising my kids.
We should build a city that welcomes everyone. This kind of hate is unacceptable.
@agarwal
People actually from San Francisco don't want them recalled so go suck rocks and go back to where the hell you came from stop ruining our city.
Today is a setback in our work to get to yes on housing. But I will not let this be the first step in a dangerous course correction back towards being a city of no. We will not move backward.
My statement on the Board of Supervisors downzoning vote:
I’m generally finding my “for you” timeline to be more valuable than my “following” timeline.
This was something we discussed every day while I worked at twitter: how do we show you great content without you having to find and follow accounts?
This simple solution works.
Huge line for the
@IKEAUSA
grand opening!
One business is not going to save the city, but I’m excited to see companies bet on San Francisco and help get the city back on track.
We are a city with a $14B budget and unrivaled talent and resources. We deserve safe and clean streets, good public education, and affordable housing.
We deserve better government.
In 2021 we’re starting to plan muni lines that won’t open for…29 years? What a fucking joke. Every single person who is a part of this plan needs to be fired or elected out now.
The sky is orange. We don’t have time for this bullshit.
By 2050, San Francisco’s Muni Metro system could expand to Fisherman’s Wharf and connect the west side neighborhoods along a key north-south corridor — if the city finds the funds to make it happen.
I actually thought this was a joke but it’s not.
Dean Preston has done nothing to address shoplifting and other crime, and now he thinks a resolution is going to change things?
Dean is ruining SF. Vote him out in November.
I had dinner at Copra last night. Upscale South Indian. Every bite was incredible (and spicy), great cocktails, wonderful wine. Beautifully done space (formerly Dosa on Fillmore).
Highly recommended.
I was like 20 feet from
@POTUS
! Fucking love America. Let’s go: immigrants are good, advance education, add more housing, invent more things, build the future.
This past week my political opponents told me to go back to where I came from, knowingly spread misinformation about me, and challenged the results of this election.
I bet you can't guess which side of the political spectrum they are on. 🧲
All crime is illegal in San Francisco again. Thank you
@BrookeJenkinsSF
!
If you break the law, there will be consequences. Recalling Chesa Boudin was the best thing SF voters did last year.
We are back to fully enforcing our laws — all crime is illegal in San Francisco again. I am committed to continuing this work to ensure that crime continues to go down + most importantly that our residents & visitors feel safe.
Thank you
@JohnAvlon
for having me on

This in-depth report from the Chronicle is a must read.
Drug dealers in San Francisco are not victims: they are coming here to sell drugs, get rich, and build mansions back home.
They have no fear of getting caught, prosecuted, or deported. This must end
Dean Preston supposedly represents the Tenderloin, but he's not listening to their concerns and he's not doing anything to help them.
They are fed up and wrote an open letter to him today. The whole letter is worth a read. It's 🔥
Tenderloin businesses that are struggling to survive in the middle of open drug markets sent a scathing letter to
@DeanPreston
:
"We asked you for alternative strategies and you provided none...You seem only to be interested in action that promotes your own personal ideology."
There are 11 supervisors in San Francisco, most of whom are anti-growth, anti-business. Some of these supervisors have won by ~100 votes!
People are fed up with the bullshit of SF government. I have *no* doubt we will replace our supervisors. And when we do, the city will thrive
Dean’s worried about a Covid testing facility but has never called for action against fentanyl dealers who are killing people every day.
Dean has to go

Yesterday voters sent a clear message: competence matters.
So today we're launching our Dump Dean PAC to make sure voters know that Dean isn't a competent leader: he's an extreme ideologue that is out of step with San Franciscans. Let's Dump Dean.
People in San Francisco want:
* An end to street homelessness
* Good public schools
* Prosecution for serious crime
Last night’s election results prove these are the issues that matter.
Fact: Everything you dislike about San Francisco is a policy choice. Don't just be pissed off about it - help us fix it.
@sbuss
and I are raising $1 million to build Grow SF and fix our city. Help us grow so we can win elections and replace our elected officials.
Traffic in San Francisco is awful right now because everyone is back partying. It’s literally worse than before the pandemic.
This is an opportunity. We should double down on muni and make it the obviously best way to get around. It’s not about cost, it’s about service quality.
I upgraded from an iPhone 11 to a 13. It’s wild that all it takes now is to hold one phone near the other and then sign in once. Everything else transfers including all logins. Apple made phone upgrades frictionless. Incredible.
sf district supervisor
@hillaryronen
of “defund the police” fame, emotionally berating the sf chief of police for … not having enough police in her district.
no words.
Hayes Valley / Civic Center area is absolutely insane right now. I lived in this neighborhood for 10 years and never saw it this busy.
The roads are bumper to bumper, restaurants are packed, the performing arts garage is literally full.
So much energy on the streets.
If you want to understand why SF has problems, read
@sacca
’s 🧵.
The people we’ve elected, largely without truly knowing who they are or what they believe in, are the cause of our problems.
I started
@GrowSF
when I realized this. It’s solvable. We need these politicians out.
Today was a turning point in San Francisco history. We will no longer accept officials who put their own self interests and agendas ahead of the public good.
We need sane and effective policy that builds a world class city for future generations. Remember to VOTE!
Today we delivered enough (& more) signatures to recall Commissioners Lopez, Collins & Moliga.
Today we ensured the voice of the people resounds loud and clear through City Hall.
Today we launched a revolution to put students first in our public education system.
Thank you SF!
Supervisor races cost just a few hundred thousand dollars and are won by just hundreds of votes.
Common sense won in 2022 and we’ll win again in 2024 because residents are fed up with incompetence. Follow and donate to
@GrowSF
The SF progressives are lost. They tried to organize a rally in front of
@ycombinator
HQ today. It failed.
* It was organized by a PR agency based in Berkeley, not grassroots at all
* Only about 15 people showed up
* YC is one of the greatest supporters of immigration,…
This perfectly summarizes where San Francisco is politically at this moment. We're frustrated by the performative politics, and demanding our government provide the basics: safe streets and good schools.
We made huge progress in 2022. But there's still more to do. Follow
@GrowSF
Asian Americans to Democrats: "we want safe streets, good schools and less progressive ideology." That's the message and 2024 warning from San Francisco. Footnote about our unfortunate experience at the end.

The group that runs Outside Lands and other loved concert venues wants to invest $15M into the Castro Theater, which has been shut down for years.
But our Supervisors and NIMBY neighborhood groups are trying to exhort them to make concessions. This is corruption.
I'm just saying that local government shouldn't be in the business of extortion. That the Board of Supervisors has this level of dictatorial control over business is a sign of a totally dysfunctional and extractive system.
The School Board recall needs $30k NOW to hit their next signature goal. I'm matching up to $10k to make this happen.
This is the most impactful thing you can do to help fix San Francisco. Send me a screenshot after you donate so I can match.
It's a really fun time to be in SF. The weather is perfect. Restaurants and bars are packed. Fleet week, Giants, Warriors, de Young smoke performance...Outside Lands soon. New buildings and parks going up.
We have a long way to go to recover, but I'm bullish on SF.
The craziest thing I discovered when getting involved in local politics is that the “progressive" politicians in SF aren’t progressive at all.
They block housing, hinder small businesses, oppose transit funding, don't care about schools, and want to kick the tech community out.
Today we are launching a non profit
@growsf
.
Our goal is to organize the tech community in San Francisco so we can learn more about local politics and vote for policies that favor increased development and innovation.
I see fentanyl dealers and users every day. Fentanyl absolutely is a drug that is easily encountered by the public in SF.
By claiming it's not,
@DrHillaryKunins
makes it clear she is out of touch with San Francisco, and she is putting our residents at risk. She should resign.
The city’s behavioral health director, said:
“While this is obviously concerning and upsetting for the family and for all of us, this is not a drug that is easily found or regularly encountered by the public,”
🤦🏼♂️
@LauraADidier
When you’re governing a city as diverse as San Francisco, compromise is the only way to move forward. Dean Preston is an ideologue who is hurting our city. We must replace him in 2024.
We're disappointed but unsurprised that
@DeanPreston
used his inauguration speech to say compromise isn't a virtue. His political philosophy is about never ceding ground on literally any issue. If you don’t pass his purity test he won’t help you accomplish *ANY* shared goals.
Aaron Peskin has been able to get away with this shit for 20 years because voters weren't paying attention. Those days are over.
@AaronPeskin
is scared and he's starting to make mistakes. His days as a politician are numbered.
We're shocked to learn this morning that
@AaronPeskin
introduced a resolution at the Board condemning the election of judges, which has been a long-time part of our Democracy. Every tyrant facing opposition always tries to shut down elections.
Croissant from
@ArsicaultBakery
was ridiculously good. You have one of these and you:
1. Wonder why you would ever get a Starbucks croissant
2. Realize you can’t leave San Francisco
The 4 votes to bring merit admissions back to Lowell included the 3 new school board members.
This wouldn’t have happened without the recall. We couldn’t wait until the next election.
Good things are happening in SF. But there’s more to do.
@GrowSF
is bringing competence to SF.
My parents came to California with nothing. They opened a restaurant, purchased a home, and sent me to good public schools.
The SF Dem Party leadership is anti housing, against improving schools, and makes life hard for businesses.
We will replace them in March. Follow

"I will veto any anti-housing legislation that comes across my desk," said Mayor Breed.
Aaron Peskin was sitting in the second row right in front of her. 🔥
On housing, we’re changing SF into a city of yes. Yes to lowering fees, removing barriers, and making it easier to build homes for families, young people, workers, and seniors.
But there’s one No I commit to — I will veto any anti-housing legislation that comes across my desk.
Today
@GrowSF
is launching “30 reasons to Dump Dean Preston”. We’ll post one reason every day through July.
Last year we defeated incumbent Gordon Mar, and next year we’ll defeat Dean Preston.
GrowSF is working to get SF on the right track and grow!
Reason
#1
to Dump Dean Preston: He blocked the construction of over 30,000 new homes for individuals and families.
Housing can never be affordable while we have a shortage, and at every turn Preston has made that shortage worse.
San Francisco will not build more housing or make other major progress until we replace the Board of Supervisors.
That has been the focus of
@GrowSF
since the day we started. We will win a majority of pro-housing, pro-growth Supervisors in 2024.
S.F. legislators put the brakes on a project that would replace a single-family Nob Hill home with 10 townhomes after neighbors objected in part because they said the proposed complex would cast too much shadow on an adjacent public recreation center.
San Francisco has the resources and ability to be the greatest city in the world. But our terrible politicians get in the way.
When we elect new leaders like Danny, the city will be transformed.
In preparation for APEC, San Francisco is cleaning its streets, activating new public spaces, removing graffiti, and planting trees.
We're seeing civic projects delivered in record time without endless bureaucracy.
Imagine if we operated at this pace 365 days a year!
JUST IN: San Francisco will ban street vending on Mission Street beginning next month, Supervisor Hillary Ronen announced in a letter to constituents, citing threats to city workers.
I heard from a startup lawyer today that his workload is off the charts. Lots of fundraising activity, mergers, acquisitions. AI is hot.
And almost everything is in San Francisco. We are so fucking back.
If we made it easier to build *all types* of housing in SF, we’d have more affordable housing, we’d have more market rate housing, rent would go down, more people could live and stay in SF, more small businesses would thrive, more people would take muni.
It’s really that simple.
People are openly destroying petitions, harassing volunteers, and getting in the way of democracy.
The radical socialists in San Francisco think they know what the city needs better than anyone else and they are willing to break the law to get there. This cannot be tolerated.
Imagine if all the smart people at Google left their jobs and went to go work hard at companies solving big problems. World changing products would emerge.
So much potential innovation is being locked up by Google.
The SF Democratic Party endorsed Chesa Boudin, Dean Preston, Gordon Mar, Alison Collins, and other terrible politicians. 😡
Next March we will elect common-sense Democrats to run the party.

Yes! We must REFUND the Police. It’s the key to a safe and clean San Francisco every day. SFPD must be returned to >2000 officers within 18 months from 1400 where it has been allowed to fall, and the police force must be fully empowered to enforce ALL laws. Compensate ALL…
It’s pretty wild that our political opponents spent all weekend making up lies and threatening us and our partners.
Meanwhile we continue to put out honest information, fight for common sense, and grow our movement.
We’re going to win.
