The default 3D environment in #GodotEngine is no good. I see many clips from devs using the defaults, which detracts from the cool things they want to show off and makes #Godot look bad compared to UE4 demos w/ great defaults. These "white" objects are actually blue!

@MajorMcDoom The remote scene tree is buggy in gd4. Large scenes will kill the performance of the editor with the remote tree enabled. I would not enable this automatically. Best to switch to the remote tree only when you need it for now.

@DUSKdev People don't yet create large outdoor environments. That's why we built Terrain3D. Because we needed it for our game. For now you can use scatter, multimeshinstancing, or a particle shader. Eventually we'll add paintable foliage instancing to Terrain3D.

@OskSta Terrain3D is a procedurally generated clipmap mesh, shaded with texture arrays built from source files. Modifiable/drawable textures aren't a thing just yet. You can draw to CPU textures and move to the GPU. And you can do some compute stuff.

@Saulcava1 @SebAaltonen So GDScript is faster than Unity C#. Lol. That's good because most Godot users use GDScript or C++. It's all use cases. Engines are not faster than others. Some engine features are faster than comparable features in other engines, depending on the task and the implementation.

Anisotropic Filtering is now supported for TextureArrays in #GodotEngine 3.x. This allows for sharper textures at angles, shown on the ground on the bottom.

@daily_unity My mental health is fine. Are they projecting? It's true Unity has not been profitable since they IPOed. They spend most of their income on r&d, yet don't fix long standing bugs or respond to customer needs. Unity's mismanagement isn't our problem to fix.

Good lighting is key to good photography, virtual or not. I'm making a tutorial video to help game devs fix the problems with the defaults in #GodotEngine and create a nice outdoor lighting setup. WorldEnvironment node has many settings and we'll look at which ones to use.

The PR was just merged for 3.4, and will likely be put into 3.3. See the PR and the referenced issue for details on the elusive, years old bug, and the solution. This does not appear to be an issue in 4.0.

@reduzio We've exported hundreds of static and animated assets from UE4 and Unity via FBX, converting to GLB in Blender for final import into Godot. PITA, but this has been the most reliable. Godot should support both formats as well as blender does without quirks (like gd3 scaling*0.01)

@jettelly New Godot devs need to learn about shaders. We also need more high quality shaders in the community. There are countless ones in UE/Unity, and they can be translated, but not by newbies.

Here are addressed issues: * The sky shines a strong blue cast on all materials making color fidelity impossible. * The sun casts no shadows and normal maps are pretty flat. * The ground color affects shadow color! We'll disable that insanity. #GodotEngine

@TokisanGames @TheConceptBoy Its an amazing plugin. Have enjoyed spending the last week using it on an integrated gpu(5300u). Screens are 1080p no performance optimizations,no aa. Pretty good for 30watts total pc power draw. Thank you for the huge effort that was put into this.
