Check out our latest Comment in @NatureCellBio on #autophagy (how cells of your body recycle damaged material). While declining autophagy is often seen as a hallmark of #ageing, we explore emerging exceptions to this idea. @sahmriAU @UniofAdelaide https://t.co/eh9Eu7I9hi

Nature Cell Biology - Autophagy has long been presumed to decline with age, underpinning its designation as a hallmark of ageing. However, emerging evidence challenges this notion, showing...

Check out our recent paper from Lysosomal Health in Ageing on #autophagy in response to a high-protein milkshake in humans in @JCI_insight. A surprising negative result. Great job Dr @SanjyySingh! @sahmriAU

Our paper is out in @JCI_insight ! We asked a simple question: does a high protein shake after fasting change autophagy? Surprisingly, the answer was no – autophagy in blood cells did not change 1 hour after eating, despite clear metabolic responses. https://t.co/wcVubuje8C

In a recent study published by our group, we measured autophagic flux in human PBMCs. We cannot yet measure #autophagy in organs, which is why we are developing tissue specific autophagy biomarkers.

They didn't measure autophagy in liver, kidney, or any other tissue, which might be more responsive to diet and more important for health and longevity
