@Spindrift_UK @SouthamptonCC @scchighways @SotonStreets This sign signifies the design doesn't work, otherwise a sign wouldn't be needed. SCC need to look at Coventry, as per below. An excellent and clear design. Whereas SCC have already erected yellow signs at one crossing and warning signs at another (also pictured). Rubbish design.

86 headteachers have written an open letter to Mayor Rahman, expressing deep concern over his decision to prioritize cars over student safety in Bethnal Green and urging him to reconsider. The Mayor has consistently ignored vital input from schools. https://t.co/81RHuPkmA6

@Spindrift_UK @SotonCycling @SotonStreets @SouthamptonCC @scchighways More rain gardens needed. Helping combat flooding, provide greenery, improve public space, stop illegal and antisocial parking etc. No reasons not to install them.

Roads aren't the only way to move around in a city and region on the water. Good news here, let's hope that this isn't just about keeping what we already have and is actually the first step in a newly growing network of water based links... https://t.co/cMRiNagA3H

Helsinki planners have modelled what happens when pedestrians are prioritised, rather than forced to wait ages to cross. They found that a 5% improvement in the walking environment leads to a 2.3% increase in public transport use and €8.5 million increase in fares. So, how? 🧵

Lots of stuff on twitter about needing 20mph "only round schools", but children need 20mph on their whole route walking or cycling to school. At any time there are far more children outside "outside school" than than "outside school". Its why 20mph is best for communities.

The Dutch invest €595 million annually on urban biking, resulting in €19 BILLION saved in public health care costs alone. That’s how smart govts do the math on investing in better mobility. Let’s be clear — it wastes public money to NOT do it. #CityMakingMath HT @modacitylife

Imagine if at the start of every news bulletin they announced how many deaths and injuries there'd been on the country's roads the previous day.

Today people in Birmingham came together to say "Enough is Enough". Four people have been killed on our roads in the last month, two of whom have been children. Last week a child and their older sibling were run over on their way to school. @for_birmingham is demanding action

I've written about the rates of speeding on Bitterne Road West A3024 using speed camera data from @HantsPolice. I ask @southamptoncc @LabourSatvir and @SouthamptonCops to enforce the posted limit and deal with the rampant speeding on this road. https://t.co/GLCjWJUKck

So you want popular travel choices for your residents? People want the freedom to choose how they travel without the intimidation from high speeds on residential streets and in town and village centres. 20mph on our streets brings that choice. https://t.co/A3pLwLdESd
