I am mostly silent on Twitter. But today I must post something: I met with three amazing and incredible women scientists I had the privilege of mentoring as PhD students in my lab. Dori Schafer, Shelly Buffington, and Tammy Ho. They helped make me who I am.

As much as I love microglia and they play clear roles in the removal of synapses in multiple contexts, they are not the sole driver of synapse remodeling. Lots of neuron intrinsic mechanisms and other glia are involved too. Very important to recognize.

I wanted to further echo @eyolab enthusiasm for this work that is nicely complementary to @stevens1lab work that C1q does not regulate OD plasticity in the same brain region. Both studies here: .

Very important work from @patwsheehan @ErikMusiek Time of day matters for glia. It has made some confusing data in our lab much less confusing now. This is super important for the field.

Finally, we made a website so that anyone can query their gene of interest to see if it is rhythmically expressed in bulk tissue, astros or microglia. We also include aggregated plots so you can tell if your gene is upregulated in APP or normal aging.
