I feel like indies love saying "don't rely on twitter for your marketing" but don't really provide an alternative. Facebook, tumblr, cohost and the lot probably aren't showing your stuff to *more* people. Instagram maybe but that's its own game.

Do we lose something when we disregard "trad" or pop design? Can even most of us do something like that, as only corpos seem to managed to pull this off? We start our critical analysis of Era of Silence on Split/Party, a game that takes a gamble in an attempt to answer this.

Like the solutions I see it are all "get in a devoted forum style community that buys all your stuff" but we haven't had a centralized one like that that just anyone could join in a while. Most of the big rpg spaces are explicitly anti-promo

Honestly if Shrike Tabletop plateaued today and never grew I'd be satisfied. We have a handful of dedicated fans, are part of a great community with insightful colleagues, and I've made some really meaningful friendships. Being able to fund small print runs is nice too.

A couple years ago, my friend Warren passed. For some reason I inherited his rpg books. I dont think he had any plans for them, I was just the most RPG focused on in the group. And every now and then I'll find his campaign binder, full of notes and weekly plans. Then I miss him.
