Today's breaking news in the Church of England: Bishops have decreed that a two-thirds majority in Synod is required for standalone services of blessing for same-sex couples to be allowed. Currently, the numbers aren't there for this to get through Synod. https://t.co/UgxyivjfOI

A fascinating story from @RNS @jackmjenkins about clergy defying ICE. It mentions a pastor, David Black, who has had several confrontations with ICE, one of which was captured in this extraordinary photo by Ashlee Rezin of the Chicago Sun-Times. https://t.co/rqziyRdwrb

It might not be the most widely read thing I write in the course of the next 24 hours, but this seems as good a moment as any to say that I have a substack about port cities. This week: Odes(s)a, reflecting on how the city, and its name, have changed. https://t.co/EogxBcSo9I

Interesting analysis of the causes of terrorism in the United States over the past fifty years. The Cato Institution study concluded that, since 2020, right-wing terrorism was responsible for 44 out of 81 deaths, left-wing 18 deaths, and Islamism 17 deaths.
