This is not us. A blind eye no more.
A city decimated by people who cared more about the ethnicity of the perpetrator than the welfare of the victims. People who want to destroy our buses and loot our shops. People who have no interest in the most vulnerable in our country.
It most likely won't be my day today. But I'm feeling good 😊
I ran a great campaign that I can stand over. I'm honestly delighted and relieved to have my life back!
Thanks for the support ❤️
I will be working tirelessly for the people of Ballyfermot/Drimnagh as the new
@labour
Local Area Representative in Dublin South Central 🌹
My bio, my priorities, and my contact details are here:
And I'm out with 770 votes on the 7th count. Thank you to everyone who gave me their vote.
I'll keep fighting the fight. Back to work tomorrow to support young people in our community.
I'm honoured to be selected tonight as the

local election candidate for Ballyfermot-Drimnagh.
As first time candidate, I'd appreciate any donations to my campaign:
Let's make Dublin a better place to live.

Officially a candidate - lodged my papers with Dublin City Council!
I'm out across the area asking for people to vote

Dempsey.
For a councillor rooted in community who is fighting for a safer, sustainable, housed Dublin.

. For my sisters, for my friends. Healthcare is an issue between a person and their doctor - not to be dictated by an archaic constitutional amendment. This is about compassion, decent healthcare, personal choice and recognising reality.
A bit of positivity.
Knocking on doors has been refreshing.
Most people are decent and courteous, even if they disagree. I've had people invite me into their homes. They want to be heard and supported.
Dubliners are decent. Don't let social media make you think otherwise.
It is mad to have to say that while it's inappropriate for someone to drink outside a school, it's low to share a photo of someone who is most likely in the depths of addiction as clickbait.
If Fine Gael had done this, you'd be sure Sinn Fein would be rightfully condemning it.
It's a shame to see Sinn Fein engaging in a cynical shift right before elections.
Dog-whistling on migration and Europe is what the Tories have been at. Look how that is going.
Dialogue is important, but it must be factual too. Don't equate the loudest with the many.
Best wishes to
@SenDavidNorris
on his well earned retirement. To him we owe a debt of gratitude for a better Ireland.
An honour to have had his support as a much younger activist - and also told me years before that I would get involved in politics one day! Here we are!
We are the generation forced back into the box bedroom. Young people are being denied their independence and start in life.
Enough is enough. There is no functioning housing market. We need more affordable & social homes.
Will be speaking at a panel on this issue on Friday.
Some 68% of people aged 18-34 live at home with their parents. For many, it's a point of tension. RTÉ’s Prime Time hears from young adults who say they are frustrated by being unable to move out of their parents' home due to rent and house prices
What a brilliant weekend - my legs are in bits 😂
I seriously considered whether or not to run. But I knew if I didn't, I would have always regretted it. And people, decent dubliners, have been brilliant.
I'll keep fighting for those number one's until Friday 💪

Out on the doors in
#chapelizod
about the proposed large residential development at Linders Showroom. Great to see more much needed homes 🏡
Myself and
@RebeccaMoy
want to see a creche developed to replace 60 spaces previously here, rather than a private residents gym.
This is very strange 😂
My

postering teams getting these up across Ballyfermot, Drimnagh, Bluebell, Inchicore, Walkinstown and Chapelizod.
A mammoth task done by absolute legends. Where would I be without the people behind me.
Last canvass done! I'm asking the people of Ballyfermot-Drimnagh LEA to vote Dempsey

for:
🏠 More social & affordable homes;
🛝 More community amenities, resources & policing;
🚲 Better active & public transport.
💙 For a safer, vibrant, sustainable and housed Dublin.
I've been overwhelmed with the support my campaign has had. From people on doors, to doorknockers and donors.
I am fighting for a safer, sustainable and housed Dublin.
I'd really appreciate any support you can give to keep up the fight. My idonate is below 👇

For me, politics is personal. It's not about the job, it's about lifting up the community 👇
Glad to see my campaign message resonate.
I have the edge over other candidates: a proven track record of working with the most vunerable in our city, and for a better society.
@DubCityCouncil
Treat the footpaths. Dublin 8 was a disgrace at lunch time. Nearly slipped twice and saw someone slip beside a road. There is black ice on the footpaths. Nobody should feel confined to their home for fear of slipping.
Delighted and very proud to see one of my closest pals
@Harmonica26
elected.
I know Laura will be an excellent councillor for Cork City. She pulled off a brilliant campaign 👏
Great to speak to so many residents in Belgrove and Glenaulin in Chapelizod 🚶♂️
Many residents raising concerns about access to public transport.
We need accessible and reliable public transport alongside active travel schemes 🚲 🚍🚶♀️
We need more social and affordable homes. It's the human and workers rights issue of today.
I'm knocking on doors of crowded homes. I speak to many who've been forced back home or struggle with rent.

Dempsey to see greater ambition for decent and secure housing.

I'm devastated to hear Charlie Bird has died.
He instilled so much confidence in me and encouraged me during MarRef and after.
He came to me to discuss his book 'A Day in May'. I was so glad to encourage him. I knew he'd do it justice because he knew the power of stories. /1
Great response in Musical Roads in Walkinstown 😊 Issues raised including road maintenance, local developments, and elderly care.
And many happy to see a younger person running and wanting to see a new generation elected! 🌹
Very sorry to hear about the passing of Edmund Lynch. Many of us involved in activism will know him as a trailblazer and comrade for the Irish LGBTQ+ community. His oral history project will be a treasure for future generations.
Thanks to the
@LabourDubSC
team for leafleting hundreds of houses with me 🌹😊
Important updates on the work that myself and
@RebeccaMoy
have been doing for the area.
Great reception on doors as we canvass through Walkinstown 😊
Lots of chats about;
🚴 Buses and bikes 🚌
🏡 Housing
🧒 Childrens play & support for autistic children
Great to hear my former youth worker, colleague & harm reduction worker
@GerRayRoe
speaking about the impact of drugs on working-class children.
As Gerard said: we need drug testing in clubs and festivals and the supervised injection facility, among many other interventions.
Currently dealing with the stress of trying to find somewhere to live and come across this gem.
€1,400 to live in a garage with "innovative storage solutions".
Can't help but feel hopeless.
Your councillors will have the choice to nominate candidates for President of Ireland after the local elections.
No candidate who seeks to divide our society will get my vote if I'm elected.
Disgraceful, bottom of the barrel stuff.
Deflecting criticism from his Government's housing policy by blaming those most failed by this government.
They haven't reduced the shocking numbers in emergency accommodation because they have simply accepted it as a new normal.
Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has defended his Government's record on homelessness by saying some people in emergency accommodation "refuse multiple offers to go on social housing".
Our generation is being continuously failed by this gvmt.
Almost 30% of us 25-34 year olds still at home, among highest increase in Europe. Home ownership collapsing. Unable to save for mortgages because we're crucified with rent.
We need renters rights bill & eviction ban.
Renting in Ireland is broken -
@hoeyannie
Nationwide, rents have spiraled out of control, locking an entire generation into insecure and unaffordable housing.
Just what is Government going to do to give renters a break?
📰
Glad to see more coverage of my call for the NTA to commit to a new Ballyfermot train station as a part of Dart+ South West.
This cannot become another transport study that gathers dust.

The final weekend of campaigning starts! We've been all over Ballyfermot, Chapelizod, Drimnagh, Inchicore and Walkinstown this last week.
I hope to meet as many people as I can this weekend!

Great teams across Ballyfermot, Drimnagh, Walkinstown, Inchicore & Chapelizod the last couple of days for the final push ♥️
It's my first time standing, but not my first time standing up for people or fighting for what I believe in. That's been my life's work.

We've been informing resident's about our campaign on vacancy & dereliction, and encouraging residents to register to vote.
It's easier than ever to register, visit

I struggled yesterday seeing anti-abortion protesters stand outside the hospital that my best friend and her baby spent their last hours. Not an ounce of thought or compassion for families, friends and those in crisis. Just alienation and manipulation. It must be called out.
(Mostly) recovered from sinusitis and on the doors again. Leafleting and chatting to residents on Kylemore Road - raising issues of speed limits and children's safety on the road. Will follow up 😊
Vacant and derelict sites are being left to rot while our city struggles with a housing crisis.
With your vote on June 7th, I will be pushing the Council for more compulsory purchase orders. We need more homes, not land hoarded for greed.
Many of us in Ireland have experienced alcoholism in our families. We know our drinking culture needs to change. Minimum pricing is a regressive measure that will have a massive impact on families and children of alcoholics. Alcohol comes first, bills and food second. 1/
Good reception on Ballyfermot Road earlier 😊 We leafleted and spoke to many residents on issues including:
🚌 Bus Connects
🧹 Street Cleaning
👮♀️ Safety
There to listen and there to help!

My first time back to UCD since I graduated to get fully vaxxed!
Thanks to the amazing
@HSELive
and Defence Forces staff. The vaccination centre is so well run.
A fantastic day at the Wonderful Walkinstown Festival! 🎺🙌 It was great to meet with local youth and community groups.
Thanks also to
@D12Asdparentsu1
who chatted to me about the need for more support and resources for children with autism and their families.
ABP confirmed to me that the new ALONE development for older folks in Jamestown Court, Inchicore, has been approved. Followed up after being around last week.
Ridiculous that it has taken years of delay and decay to see it progress. Good news! Much needed 🏠
📬 A crisp and productive morning leafleting hundreds of homes in Drimnagh with an update for the area earlier on. Thanks to a great team for joining.
The swans were v interested too 🦢😊

It's clear I have a vision that stands out: for a safer, sustainable, and housed Dublin. A fighter for Ballyfermot Drimnagh.

I hope you'll take the time to read it:
I've been leafleting residents on
#Ballyfermot
Road this morning in relation to this site. It's been a disgrace for vulnerable residents.
I've spoken to the area manager about this & he has made cleaning aware. He told me that planning enforcement are also investigating.
On Ballyfermot Road, residents complain about dust from a large construction site. “You are awake all night not being able to breathe and then the banging starts,” says June Byrne, who suffers from COPD.
Just came off my bike at speed at Christchurch because a driver of an obnoxiously large car decided that the cycle lane should suddenly be his. We need segregated cycle lanes.
Thankfully alright other than being a bit shook 😬
Energised by the sun, very supportive residents, and great canvass teams 🌞
People appreciate my values, work, and vision for our city.
They're telling me they want fresh ideas, new blood, and will vote
#DempseyforDCC
to give me a chance for change.
Deprivation is on the rise. And for me, the fight is personal.
We're running budget surpluses while parents struggle to feed children.
We need more support for lone parents, to invest in young people like never before, and to bring back the Combat Poverty Agency.

terrorism:
the unlawful use of violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims.
It's long overdue for this to be treated for what it is. Because it is not us.
Gorgeous day for good news 😎
Heard residents concerns around road safety & crossings in Walkinstown Ave/Park. Glad to confirm that DCC are now intending to add the road to the pedestrian crossing works 🚸
Some of the work I'm doing for the community.

'Ballyfermot says no' causing mayhem for commuters on the basis of fake news stories & bigotry.
This cohort claim to represent the 90%, in whatever community they are infiltrating. They do not. Ballyfermot is a great, strong community that does not need more negative press.
Deeply disappointed to hear this. I worked in Merchants Quay because of the compassionate support it gave to many in my family suffering with heroin addiction.
I was a regular first responder to people overdosing in hidden back lanes or toilets. This would have many saved lives.
Excited for the launch of
@MichaelDHiggins
youth campaign. Michael D stands for many causes I have worked for and care about. He's been a President of compassion, empathy & voice for the marginalised in Ireland and abroad.
