It’s a bit terrible how we treat carers in this country, isn’t it?! Carers give up their time and often their careers to provide the best care they can to the person/people who need it & save the state money in doing so. Yet it is a role that is so undervalued in our society.

Look, when you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change. This is what happened to me. I used to believe that women and girls who had been raped and abused had mental health issues, too. I thought ‘mental health was the same as physical health’. 🧵

Listening to #bbcR4Today about head injury being more widely understood as a potential cause for dementia. My father was 6’3” my mum 5’2” Every time he hit her, he always started with her head. She died from Alzheimer’s in 2011. Male violence is the burden on the NHS, not ageing.

I am a victim of child #trafficking We were drugged raped photographed and more. I spent the night trying to make her be ok, but she died beside me under the covers. I was 9. This is my most precious painting. Please speak out, please be outraged #HumanTraffickingAwarenessMonth

This man who hasn’t bothered his hole yet to change his name or his legal sex is having a hard time interacting with reality. Being trans is hard, he says, and I totally believe him, so why not meet people half way, changing your name is cheap and easy… go for it

I really think this deserves several reads, not least because the press have finally worked out that it is self-id, not feminism, which is "controversial": https://t.co/kXJXZyZS0L

A depressing read on the same day that the Scottish Assembly voted down an amendment to prevent convicted sex offenders from obtaining gender recognition certificates

A "non-binary queer" artist has been arrested after arranging to rape 9-year-old boy, and sending horrific child sexual abuse material to undercover FBI agents. Efran Zelony-Mindell was recently profiled by Vogue for his "BIPOC and LGBTQIA+" art. https://t.co/nFZuo5O2Tc

“Young people are not willing to do that (transition slowly and carefully) anymore” he says. I cannot think of a single other irreversible life-altering surgery where the patient dictates the timescale. “I can’t imagine life without my children” he adds..

Here's a bit of seasonal cheer about how really good and kind people are. We're running a Christmas Raffle for our primary school in Kilshanroe in Kildare. The school is very small; usually only about 100-120 children from Junior Infants right up to 6th class.

Sometimes when I get discouraged with the state of women worldwide, when I feel like there's "no point," I remember one thing: In Göbekli Tepe (a neolithic archeological site, one of the oldest human structures) there is a crudely-carved image of a woman🧵

The lad doth protest too much. This poor poor guy. I feel such sympathy.. We are the adults; we are the people allowing teachers, doctors, therapists and “charities” to lie through their teeth to children from their earliest years that surgery is a cure for mental distress

The following thread is entirely written by Teresa, the woman who found her life-saving operation at Princess Grace Hospital had been cancelled because she requested single-sex nursing care. She asked for it to be posted this afternoon, and it contains excellent news: 1/16

Day 1 of being a boy. I have punched 3 walls, sent a dick pick to my teacher and stood around uncomfortably at the mall. When someone asked me how I was I was unable to express my emotion so I grunted. How'd I do guys? Good? #DylanMulvaney no #AmyMulvaney transman
