Spotted this fun tidbit in a 2014 NCC consultation report on the Ottawa River shoreline vision. Sometimes, we can have nice stuff?

I think it bears repeating that BART installed tall gates to enter the subway and they're gaining $10m in revenue a year plus the need for maintenance is down by *95.7%* Passengers who were unwilling to pay a few bucks were causing 96% of the public cleanliness problems!

@maxdubler And there are other real benefits such as fewer corrective maintenance requests and time spent cleaning and fixing things.

Are there any functioning card readers on any OC Transpo buses any more?

Honest to god at this point the OC Transpo fake-time data qualifies as a pseudo-random number generator. Someone at the transit company needs to become unemployed.

@_MarkSutcliffe You’re weakening our city’s infrastructure with these unsustainably and unnecessarily low taxes.

@_MarkSutcliffe The transit system is literally on the brink of collapse. I think we could’ve made better choices than this as a city.

Another indicator of how little the user experience matters to OC Transpo is the state of the info board, including the missing map, at the Rideau Street westbound bus stop. System information isn't a frill. OC Transpo has an ingrained attitude of treating it that way though.

This stuff is good obviously, but they should be careful. At some point folks will remember that the prior state was also just accepted until people freaked out.

If OC Transpo and the City cared about urban bus riders, there would be special constables at Rideau at all times, and the urban transit bylaws would be enforced instead of being words on a website. They don't, and there aren't.

I’m all for mid-rise apartments. However, I don’t get the obsession the environmental community has on making sure they’re only on the most polluted arterial roads. When did environmental justice stop being a thing? https://t.co/fHHU09LU6w

Here’s an idea for the Greater Toronto Area's housing crisis: make more market-oriented homes available at a size, location and price point that many would be interested in buying.

@LongBranchMike1 @TorontoStar @ttcriders the star isn't the one suggesting the station isn't going to be built or that it shouldn't be - thats the agencies and jurisdictions involved - the star is just reporting how much sunk cost has been put into something they have no commitment to build

It's almost impressive the number of card readers that are out of service on OC Transpo buses.
