This is what our President who is blind said about the bus stop design where you step off the bus onto a narrow bus boarder next to a cycle lane on Lea Bridge Road, Waltham Forest ‘Not fit for purpose. It really is totally inaccessible. These sorts of designs should be scrapped’

This is important @LordBlunkett were you @LordPeterHendy or @simonlightwood made aware of it as it is a very important document. Your clause does not reflect this and the new Bus Bill needs to be urgently aligned with it. People are very angry about the document being ignored.
.@simonlightwood @LordPeterHendy the Bus Services (No2) Bill needs to align with @BSI_UK British Standard 8300-1:2018 Design of an accessible & inclusive built environment on Bus Stops please 'Pedestrians should have access to & from the bus stop without crossing cycle routes'

Alt text for the film given in photo below. The photo shows a pensioner standing at the 2-way cycle lane zebra crossing as two cyclists ride past her in opposite directions. The are signs written on the zebra crossing with arrows pointing in both directions saying look both ways!

Politicians & all the safety groups out there & professional bodies of planners , etc., How have you allowed this ! You have failed our most vulnerable in society - it's a national scandal ! @NFBUK @flickhwilliams @roadsafety @Keir_Starmer
Government and highways authorities building floating bus stops for cyclists not only ignored disabled people, the UN convention of disabled peoples’ rights & equalities legislation, we now know they ignored a British Standards Inst. document requiring direct access to the bus.

Visually-impaired woman had to cross track alone as @GWRHelp station staff she had booked did not turn up "It's important disabled people have equal opportunity to use train stations + to use the station I need there to be staff there" Ms Vickery said

Nearly got taken out by a souped up ebike. He was turning left on a junction & going too fast as I was crossing. I didn’t see him. Argument ensued - told him it was my right of way, he said I wasn’t looking. Close call (e-bikes meant to have a 15mph limit but little enforcement)

.@Heidi_Labour @simonlightwood @LordPeterHendy @LordBlunkett @danielmgmoylan please ensure the new Bus Services (No 2) Bill is aligned with Section 6.2.2 of this British Standard. It has been ignored for far too long & vindicates why we have raised so many concerns on this issue.

The effect of this will be catastrophic for blind people which is why all the national charities representing blind people have called for a halt to floating bus stops. It is reprehensible that you simply ignore their need to travel independently.
Good News: we've started construction work on the permanent Cycleway 4 extension from Charlton to Woolwich🚲🚲🚲 Cycleway 4 will run from Plumstead right into London Bridge enabling 1000s of people to safely cycle through Greenwich, Lewisham & Southwark in South East London.

@AdamGabsiLDN @LondonFire @InclusionLondon This is more than a London theme, being #disabled it can take longer to evacuate, also if you're #deaf hearing a fire alarm can be problematic. #blind people can also have difficulty identifying the floor numbers in escape stairs.

Fire safety for Disabled people isn’t optional, it’s essential. Heading to the @LondonFire community forum. It’s become like a little family, and I really appreciate everyone’s time and care. @InclusionLondon

The introduction of floating bus stops will mean the permanent exclusion of blind people from travelling independently. This despite the @MayorofLondon knowing all the national blind person’s charities, @RNIB, @guidedogs and @NFBUK have called for a halt to all new schemes.

#YorkCentral If you are someone who needs step free access at the West side of the station, this is a 🧵you really need to read before it goes to Planning. Access to lifts will be via the large arch but there’s a catch. The 2 lifts will go up NOT down. Let me explain…

This is against BS8300-1:2018 Design of an accessible & inclusive built environment. Pedestrians should have access to & from the busstop without crossing cycle routes including where these run between the pedestrian route & the vehicle carriageway @simonlightwood @LordPeterHendy
‘The tragedy is that visually impaired people are ending up at the bottom of the pile & are designed out of the environment’ Andrews words about a pavement-less bus stop on the new Lea Bridge Road cycle lane in London. @LouHaigh @simonlightwood we need urgent help on this issue.
