MPs are getting correspondence from fed up constituents wherever floating bus stops are being installed. Here @Siobhain_Mc from Merton. The government’s advisors are organisations that have wasted £ squillions putting them in, ignored blind people and want to install more.
‘TfL is not now rolling out shared use bus boarders at this point in time’ stated by Lead Sponsor of TfL Investment Planning Directorate who oversees delivery of cycling investment. This pause however should include all floating bus stops. 4th July outside Colliers Wood Station.

It’s not just blind people who are angry about floating bus stops. It’s disrespectful of the cycle lobby to insist cycles can plough through bus stops at speed on their bikes.
Thank you to everyone who came along to yesterday’s site meeting about the floating bus stops & parking for businesses on Colliers Wood High Street with @TfL yesterday. Great points made. I will be back in touch with progress 🤞🤞

The @MayorofLondon says that those bus stops that comply with @TfL guidance are usable by blind people. This one here in the heart of the City of London does comply, but is clearly unusable for blind people. Retweet to support blind people’s. Access needs:

Sorry @SadiqKhan. TfL report the bus stops on Westminster Bridge are fully compliant with their guidance. But blind people, the @RNIB and @guidedogs say there design are categorically NOT ACCESSIBLE for blind people. There are many injuries, often unreported.
Floating bus stops present accessibility challenges to Londoners with disabilities. @AndrewBoff pressed the Mayor about the safety concerns. Who's right - Khan, or those who have to use these bus stops?

What’s a ‘national active travel network’ and how is it different to generations of failed attempts to get more people active. Do come see what the most successful local authority has done to get more people cycling and walking than any other. @Meg_HillierMP @FeryalClark.
Thrilled to see the metro mayors working with Government and @activetraveleng to create a national active travel network. With every journey walked, wheeled or cycled, we’re tackling the climate crisis, fighting inactivity, reducing congestion, and delivering affordable choices

.@mum_on_bike of course doesn’t mention the amendment is proposed by a blind MP. Is she shocked by that??? It’s also supported by an MP with a disabled child and one that used to work with blind people!. The @RNIB and @guidedogs support the amendment too. Shocking!!!.
It’s shocking that Hackney MP @Meg_HillierMP has tabled amendments to the bus bill which would prevent councils from providing protected cycle lanes on bus routes across the UK. I’d urge those on the committee to consider the widespread repercussions of this. (1/2).

It’s shocking, but not surprising, how little empathy there is from for blind people unable to travel independently from a minority of often fit, young, cycle activists.
