My brother is an electrician who works in offshore wind. He sent me this photo of the largest turbine installation vessel in the world. Skilled jobs, good pay, & secure futures. While fossil fuels shed jobs & destroy the planet, renewables are delivering for the working class.

This was Marine Sgt. Tyler Ziegel and his new wife in October 2006 on their wedding day. Do they look like happy newlyweds? No? Being deployed to Iraq stole that from him. They ended up divorcing. The VA underpaid him and then he ended up overdosing on a combination of morphine

One day Vik’s manager said, “I cannot promote you because you do not demonstrate mastery of design patterns.” Vik used the visitor pattern in a codebase where it wasn’t needed, and got promoted. Seeing his next paycheck, Vik was enlightened.
There is a reason why most large companies are doomed. They value complexity more than anything else. People fabricate complexity to get recognized.

Codes of Conduct are hard:
Livable wages, welfare, public services... These things were not gifts. They were a settlement in the class war. Things given to the people by the powerful to stop us rising up and torching their mansions. They acting like they have forgotten that, more importantly so have we.
