Comparisons with the Bob Dylan one are inevitable. The Dylan film was not amazing but was far more interesting than this. Neither were a patch on the glorious quirkiness of Robbie Williams as a chimp in Better Man tho.

Don’t get me wrong, the performances are great, acting superb. But as a film about Springsteen it was depressing & dull, & as a film examining depression it was ok but basic. The addition of an entirely fictional neglected waitress girlfriend was odd & a hope dashed.

At the best cinema in Bristol for the Bruce Springsteen film. It’s a hugely ironic film. The film is about Bruce’s descent into depression & his demand to release a low-fi, non-commercial album of dark folk songs, much to the horror of his record label The irony is…
