Yes that is one of the very most common mistakes in strategy. It is the manifestation of fear not confidence to try to do lots of things rather than a few things.
@RogerLMartin you emphasize that strategy is about making clear choices about what to do and what not to do. Yet, I often see organizations reluctant to make trade-offs. Instead of committing to a particular market segment, they try to serve all customer segments in the name of

Sometimes AI is brilliant. Sometimes it completely misses. But it always sounds ultra confident. That’s a problem.

Several people have made the good point that it's worrying that GDP can be so sensitive to just one company - JLR. But turning this round, imagine the upside if the UK had a pro-business Government - or at least one that understood business - and got the fundamentals right? 🤔

I'm often finding the real power in AI (for SME's), is using AI to help or refine 'boring' / 'standard' automations. Anyone else finding the same? #automation #AI #processing 🤖

👀Just look at the economic impact of the cyberattack and shutdown at Jaguar Land Rover👇 Output from the entire UK motor industry contracted by 28.6% in September, according to the ONS. Save for the pandemic that's the biggest monthly fall on record...

Fun fact: optimise for what's efficient externally and you'll run your business at a lower cost than if you try to generate efficiencies based on what internal people think external people *ought* to do...
Bad customer experiences rarely come from bad people. They come from teams optimizing for what’s easiest or most efficient internally, not what’s right externally.

McKinsey just dropped its 2025 AI report. 1. Everyone’s testing, few are scaling. 88% of companies now use AI somewhere. Only 33% have scaled it beyond pilots. 2. The profit gap is huge. Just 6% see real EBIT impact. Most are still stuck in “experiments,” not execution. 3. The

As Liz Truss joins former PMs at The Cenotaph a reminder that, with decent life expectancy, she will spend more accumulated time at the Cenotaph than she did being Prime Minister.
