We show that, rather than spurring more people to seek employment, ๐ก๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ž๐ซ ๐ฆ๐ข๐ง๐ข๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ฆ ๐ฐ๐š๐ ๐ž๐ฌ lead to a ๐๐ž๐œ๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐ž ๐ข๐ง ๐ฃ๐จ๐› ๐ฌ๐ž๐š๐ซ๐œ๐ก๐ž๐ฌ for low-wage occupations like ๐œ๐š๐ฌ๐ก๐ข๐ž๐ซ, ๐ฃ๐š๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐จ๐ซ, ๐š๐ง๐ ๐๐ข๐ฌ๐ก๐ฐ๐š๐ฌ๐ก๐ž๐ซ.

Yet, my co-authors and I find the opposite is true: raising the minimum wage actually ๐ซ๐ž๐๐ฎ๐œ๐ž๐ฌ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐ง๐ฎ๐ฆ๐›๐ž๐ซ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐ฉ๐ž๐จ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐ž ๐ฅ๐จ๐จ๐ค๐ข๐ง๐  ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ ๐ฐ๐จ๐ซ๐ค in low-wage positions.

Driving up I-79, youโ€™re reminded of how Certificate of Need (CON) fails. Just an exit off the interstate, but still a concerning distance from the nearest emergency medical facilities. Rural communities deserve better access to healthcare without unnecessary barriers. #endCON
