North Carolina has lost high-profile auto plants plenty of times in the past. But in this deal, economic developers say the state's loss has more to do with location than anything else.

General revenue funding Social Security would double the national debt. On a dynamic basis, it would produce a debt explosion.

Seems about right, although as @ernietedeschi and others have noted even wartime price controls are sometimes continued well after wars end, like WW I & WW II era rent control in NYC which persists to this day.
Price controls VERY occasionally have their uses — during wartime when rationing is rampant and perceived fairness/lack of profiteering are important 2/

NYTimes article quotes someone saying they are "terrified" of Waymo in paragraph 6. Waits until paragraph 33 (out of 44 paragraphs) to mention that they are 91 percent safer than human drivers. How outraged would liberals be if a news outlet covered vaccines like this?

Allysia Finley reports on New York's push for higher taxes, citing research by Hoover Senior Fellow @JoshRauh that showed how California's 2012 tax hikes drove high earners away and generated 56% less revenue than expected. Read more in @WSJopinion:

While economists disagree on many policy issues, trade is not one of them. Survey data suggest that 95% of economists agree that tariffs tend to reduce economic welfare. Another 90% do not think the United States should restrict outsourcing. https://t.co/3GvhODcuBo

HOLY MOLY: Hillsborough’s leading stadium cheerleader says he’s been basing his longstanding support for subsidies on “excitement and energy,” rather than actual tax receipts. But @Andy_Paden brought the damn receipts!!!

So we can't limit COLA's for the top 1/4 of beneficiaries because of the self-described needs of the bottom 2/3 of beneficiaries? The math isn't mathing...
This is why Social Security is only seven years from insolvency and beneficiaries face an $18,400 cut. Special interest groups like AARP make $2 billion a year feeding off of the fear and confusion they sow.

James Madison would ask: Will the California electorate "sacrifice to [its] ruling passion or interest both the public good and the rights of other citizens"? See Federalist 10. California's institutions seem vulnerable.
