As if any further confirmation is now needed that accusations of anti Semitism are being ritually weaponised by extremists to try & suppress any support for the Palestinians.
By this warped logic, Britain would have flattened West Belfast in pursuit of the IRA, bombed thousands of women & children & starved the rest. And this one is a Defence Minister?
Voting for a ceasefire is essentially voting to give Hamas the green light to commit further terrorist atrocities.
If Britain had been attacked on October 7, and we knew exactly where the murderers were, would any MP seriously be voting not to go after them?
This is dystopian. And yet we still see the US, UK & German governments pretending that war crimes are not taking place & sending the butchers more weaponry.
Al Shifa, Gaza's biggest hospital, a place of hope and healing. Turned to a burned out husk by Israel's marauding army.
There must be accountability for this crime. A shame on every politician who has failed to oppose this.
So from 12 to 4 (out of 30,000 UNRWA employees). On what basis did the US & UK Governments come to the conclusion that this warranted collective punishment by de-funding UNRWA? The Israelis can't even get their story right.

@margarethodge
I simply cannot comprehend why it is acceptable for Corbyn to be a Labour MP if he thinks antisemitism is exaggerated and a political attack, refuses to apologise, never takes responsibility for his actions & rejects the findings of the EHRC report. Ridiculous.
As someone has observed, turning off aid to Palestinians because of the alleged activities of a handful of UNRWA workers, can be compared to shutting down the NHS because of the activities of Lucy Letby.
Dresden really was one of the inexcusable acts of Bomber Command. The Soviet Army was on the outskirts; the city was packed with refugees & there weren’t any real military targets. Shapps needs to learn some history. Firebombing civilians is illegal for very good reasons.

As a spin doctor, I am sometimes asked; 'What is the difference between calling for an immediate ceasefire and Sir Keir's call for a 'ceasefire that lasts permanently? The answer: is Sir Keir is waiting for permission from the US State Department & agreement of the Israelis'.
Keir Starmer has called for a ceasefire that lasts permanently.
Why did it take more than 130 days of bloodshed and more than 28,000 murdered Palestinians?
Because he realises it’s going to cost him political support. Not because he developed a backbone.

Simon, it may have escaped your notice, but Netanyahu and the far Right extremists in his Cabinet are actively engaged in creating a theocratic Israel, 'from the river to the sea', killing as many Palestinians as they can get away with & driving the rest into the sea if they can.
But it has. To the cosy sell-off of the NHS being planned, under your nose, by this Government. Your constant editorialising is undermining trust in the BBC.
Sunak correctly identifies the Rochdale result as an attack on our democracy. Attacks Islamists and far right (interestingly avoiding Truss style conflation with the left)... tells police to "police the demos" and promises new package of restrictions on protest.
The defence secretary says what the Houthis are doing in the Red Sea is separate from the situation in Israel/Gaza, and his reasoning? Its 2,600km away.
By that logic the Red Sea is 4,000km away from the UK, so whats it got to do with us?
This is both moving and deeply shocking in equal measure. As someone who has been privileged to serve the United Nations, in common with many others, I am in disbelief that some Western nations are still refusing to call for an immediate ceasefire. This is also their shame.

War crimes apparently only happen when they are being committed by Russia in Ukraine. Can't these politicians not understand just how out of touch and disregarded they are?

The answer to the question; ‘is Israel in breach of international humanitarian law is an unequivocable ‘yes’. This is not ‘difficult’ nor is it ‘complex’. The tragedy is that Lisa Nandy knows this.

Residents wanted to know how she was going to vote in the “SNP ceasefire vote” she said she hadn’t seen the motion.

What Sunak is saying is simply untrue. He must know it to be untrue. And rich, beyond measure, for him to invoke the international rule of law. He is making this country a global laughing stock. As for the clown, Shapps...
The Houthis' actions have nothing to do with Israel/Gaza, and if the UK hadn't bombed the Houthis, it would have weakened the rule of law, Rishi Sunak says.

Even a mildly curious national media might be expected to report the expulsion of an elected member of Labour's ruling NEC. It also appears that quite a number of other Jewish members have been expelled by Sir Keir's Labour Party. What is going on?

Since the Security Council will be deemed incapable of acting, this now goes to the UN General Assembly, which, can in Emergency Session, adopt; 'Uniting for Peace'. This allows for 'collective measures..including use of armed force'. Armed force was authorised in Korea in 1950.

It was a war crime. Since then, the Israeli military have spent 3 weeks levelling Gaza, killing over 11,000 civilians, mainly women & children. They have attacked hospitals, schools and universities in contravention of International Law. I hope you will vote for a ceasefire.
Wrong on many counts. Had Starmer been championing an immediate ceasefire, there would not have been an SNP motion. As it is, by putting pressure on The Speaker & breaking parliamentary procedure, he has muddied the waters and caused chaos.
Britain needs to break diplomatic relations with Israel & cease any further military co-operation. It is difficult to know what other evidence is needed to persuade Government and Official Opposition, that this situation is simply untenable.
There was a time when BBC Panorama, Newsnight or the late and much lamented World in Action, would have been competing with each other to do what Richard Sanders and Al Jazeera just have.
Al Jazeera's sober, scrupulous documentary about October 7th does much more than simply correct the record. It also raises serious concerns about the failure of British media to examine the Israeli narrative. I write for Middle East Eye:
