The frustration I feel about how we are treating femicide. Three women murdered in Jan. Should be top priority for the Govt. It is an emergency. But doesn't even seem to be on the agenda. #actnow

We cannot hope to prevent the epidemic of gender-based violence if the State is unable to even define femicide, writes LOURDA SCOTT

Wow. Minister @1Hildegarde poorly briefed and clearly hasn't spoken to parents trying to access therapies for their children. Absolutely disgraceful. If you don't understand the problem how can you propose to fix it?
Minister of state for Disability Hildegarde Naughton explains the reasons behind the backlog of overdue Assessments of Need. She discusses efforts to recruit more therapists, pilot programs in special schools to ensure children get the support they need. #IrelandAM

Thanks @morningireland for coming to #Greystones and speaking to myself and locals over the frustration around the closure of the Cliff Walk. Action, and crucially, funding urgently needed. #wicklow

The plastic bottles and cans returned so far are enough to circle the Earth 4.7 times. https://t.co/ReccGtUmpN

That’s enough plastic bottles and cans to circle the Earth almost five times over.

Just 7 more women compared to 2020 and only 3 female cabinet ministers. Serious conversations needed this. With a male dominent political system, who is going to drive this change? I hear silence in the corridors of power. #Dail

The whiff of entitlement off of this is staggering. Talk to the people living in direct provision, families in emergency accommodation in hotel rooms, people in tents and on the street about staying in a hostel for the odd night. https://t.co/xefk7dpw3L

Former ministers of state have supported the move to grant junior ministers an accommodation allowance, despite a backlash against the decision.

I don’t have a vote on the Trinity Seanad panel-but if I did I’d be voting for magnificent women in politics, tireless activists & campaigners for women’s rights & equality, & fairness & inclusion for all @hazechu👇& @ruane_lynn
#womensupportingwomen #Seanad2025 #womeninpolitics
Are you registered to vote in the Dublin University (#Trinity) Seanad panel? If so, I'm looking for your no 1 vote! Ballots should have arrived to you or arriving shortly. I want to be a strong voice in the Seanad for climate, for equality, and for a better Ireland. #ChooseChu

A ceasefire in Gaza is good news, however what happens next is also important. After previous onslaughts Israel blocked essential supplies for rebuilding - this cannot be allowed to happen again. Long term, there will be no justice or real peace without ending the occupation.

Had the pleasure of attending the official opening of the International and Olympic standard hockey pitch in @templecarrigGS this morning. This is an amazing facility to have for the local hockey community, as well as the school's pupils. #greystones #wicklow #brayhockey

1 year ago, my 1st speech after maternity leave was on Gaza. Since then I introduced #ArmsEmbargo Bill, campaigned for our Occupied Territories Bill, brought #CeasefireNow motion through Seanad, fought for state divestment & against the sale of war bonds. Heartbreak continues 💔
Senator @aliceeire’s first Seanad speech after maternity leave, speaking about Gaza & love in the face of unimaginable suffering-each day the killing is allowed to continue is a crime against our common humanity. EU-Israel trade agreement must be suspended on human rights grounds

In full: Remarks by President Michael D Higgins at the presentation of credentials of Palestinian ambassador Jilan Wahba Abdalmajid. "To suggest that because one criticises Prime Minister Netahyahu, one is anti-Semetic, is such a gross defamation and slander." @VirginMediaNews
