The price you pay for predictability. From Ireland’s perspective, having 15% as the sustainable rate - especially on pharma - is at least a firm indication of the future. It was either take this stable deterioration now, or risk a 30% rate next week and pharma uncertain.

The ‘capitulation’ narrative on the U.S./EU deal is correct. EU exporters now have 15% tariffs where the previous average was ~5%, save for some protected sectors, plus massive commitments to buy American… while American exports are apparently treated/tariffed exactly as before.

Hayes had been given 7,000 shares in the company when he had worked for them earlier in his career, which were worth about $116,000 at the time of the October 7th attacks. When he sold them on July 26th - weeks after his election to Dublin City Council, not beforehand as he had.
