A new Naked Mole-Rat reference genome by @DSokolowski95 @wilson_md and co. I am glad to have contributed with @DJ_Laird to this wonderful piece of science of the unique NMR biology. This is just the start of an upcoming wave of NMR landmark papers including my own so stay tuned!.
Definitely an exercise in delayed gratification. Naked mole-rats have emerged as a model organism due to their suite of unique traits. We built a reference-grade genome assembly and annotation for the NMR by integrating long-read genomics, epigenetics, and evolutionary genomics.

RT @prof_horvath: Axolotls stop aging after four years—could studying them help humans live longer? via @NatGeo.
nationalgeographic.com
The feathery gilled pink salamanders stop aging early and can regenerate their limbs. Studying them could be the next step in the journey to unlocking effective anti-aging treatments in humans.
