In the wedding scene of Ms. Marvel, when the ceremony ended with a joyful “Allahu Akbar!” I cried. I was raised in a post 9/11 climate that regarded that phrase as a war-cry. To see muslim life reclaimed in the mainstream, through a pop-culture mammoth like Marvel, was moving.
Watched ‘The Marvels’ with my kids. When I was growing up, only the baddies mentioned Allah or Islam onscreen. Now we get to see good guys praying to Allah, doing duas, speaking in Urdu. Representation matters. Treating Muslims as just normal folks matters. Thanks

The more I think about the action in

My Dad HATES super hero movies and always has. I dragged him to see this and he was in shambles by the end. He said it was his favorite movie he had seen all year.
Says a lot about the movie's quality when it makes grown ass people, who think superhero movies are for babies, cry like babies. Not a single future Marvel movie is gonna hit you the way this movie does. Tasteful, Brilliant and Majestic. Thank You, Ryan Coogler!

My new favorite composer pick for Kang Dynasty and/or Secret Wars is definitely Natalie Holt. She can bring the gravitas AND the melancholy. Her soundscapes are unique while not being distracting- she’s got the whole package.
