I just watched a religious-freedom training session for journalists led by a Christian woman whose family fled the Iranian revolution when she was a child. When asked what she considers the number-one threat to religious freedom in the USA, she said this: Christian nationalism.

No, Nathan, don’t you dare tell King David he was wrong to violate Bathsheba. That would be liberal. We don’t need a Sunday school teacher in office. This king has already been so criticized. Remember the options? Saul was worse.

If you endorse a book, it is your responsibility actually to know what it says and vet it for your readers. To do otherwise is irresponsible. Esp if you have the title of shepherd of the sheep. That is kind of the point of being a shepherd.

One in six American women has been raped or faced an attempted rape. But less than 0.5% of perpetrators will go to jail. The law continues to victim blame and fails to protect women. If this is not evidence of systemic sexism, I don’t know what is.

I disagree emphatically. If the #judge is innocent, he must be exonerated. If guilty, not accuse his victim—but own his sin and beg forgiveness. Jesus cares for victim and victimizer. He does not say time heals all evil. Or that evil does not matter. Or boys will be boys.
