Yes. Web3 addresses will eventually be considered superior to emails or even phone numbers as contact mechanisms. They allow not just messaging, but E2E encrypted messaging, payments, authentication, and more besides.
Super excited to launch PGP support for Skiff.
This finally realizes the vision of interoperable E2EE across email providers.
Requires no set up, interaction, or technical know-how to use!
Full PGP support in Skiff: Now released
Starting today, use PGP to send end-to-end encrypted emails across providers 🔒
PGP in Skiff is easy to use - automatically create keys, import keys, and resolve keys for external users

If you think the internet has an impact on our lives today, its about to be 100x greater. The question is whether that terrifies or excites you.

Unlike ERC-721, SNIP-721 gives NFT holders choice over what they share. This opens up really cool purchase-dependent features
E.g. you could unlock hidden links or the full-res NFT only on purchase
Had the most fun building out these cards for the new site.
Everything is built in JSX (no images) so we could have full control in animating them. Helps w/ responsiveness and request size too.
Lots of easter eggs in the effects – try to find them all!

Got annoyed with the bubbly-ness of pill-shaped buttons so we we "squared" out some of the edges
Many other subtle improvements as well.
My family survived and died in the holocaust. I have every reason to be offended by
@kanyewest
's hate speech.
But
@googledrive
crossed the line by digging into people's personal files and removing videos of Kanye.
Owning evidence of hate speech is not the same as promoting it.
On the internet, end-to-end encryption is the only way to guarantee free speech.
So when governments try to ban e2ee, they’re just trying to ban free speech.
Nothing could be more important to fight for.

Email backed entirely by your eth public/private key pairs is the goal. No pw needed.
All the tech exists. We just need to standardize this across wallets. E2EE interoperability w/ a far larger ecosystem than PGP

I think
@ProtonPrivacy
really needs to read up on how FISA in the US works compared to IntelSA in Switzerland. They both require authorization. In the US = Attorney General + US Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court. In Switzerland = the Swiss Federal Administrative Court. Both
Gmail is completely broken. In the past couple years, its become a heap of marketing outreach/spam.
Now, add advertisements to the list. How can anyone keep track of whats actually important?
We're hard at work on "fixing email"

Until now they’ve not been guaranteed online.
The Chinese government was able to access the private emails of top Biden officials on Outlook.
"Hackers obtained access to...digital signing key, which was then used to gain access to customer data"
E2EE = no access to customer data in the first place.
I don't get why anyone thinks European privacy laws are somehow more protective than the US's.
20 of the 27 EU member states support banning E2EE. We're going to trade real privacy for cookie banners?
"Users using incognito mode were being followed by the search and advertising behemoth for measuring web traffic and selling ads."
You can choose between security theater and true privacy on the internet.
Crazy that Dropbox is sending everyone's data to OpenAI.
Microsoft even banned employees from using ChatGPT (before the press got out) and still cautions against sending "confidential information"
Lots of startups focus on shipping features as quickly as possible. They get it wrong.
At Skiff we focus on finishing features as quickly as possible.
Here's the difference: you waste less time on “follow-ups” and “debt” and reach more users, more quickly.
Every employee and contractor had access to every video (nothing encrypted).
So what happened? Employees spied on nearly 100 customers. Hackers comprised 55,000 accounts (spied on 1,000 customers).
The risks of not encrypting data are not hypothetical.
It seems like you can only opt-out future not existing data.
So do businesses with confidential data in their Dropbox now just have to live with the fact that their data is exposed to OpenAI??
For those wondering who the Third Party
@Dropbox
just gave everyone’s data automatically to, it’s Open AI.
Considering all the lawsuits Open AI has concerning illicit use of ill-gotten data, privacy breaches and data leaks this arrangement inspires 0 confidence.Bad move Dropbox.
its surprising how often the difference between 'good' and 'great' is like 30 minutes of extra work.
but i think the reason there aren't many 'great' products is that its so extremely tempting to accept good enough and move on.
choices compound. bare maximum >>> bare minimum
Antisemitism is prevalent
@Stanford

• 10 freshman trashed a party hosted by jewish students, chanting "fuck the jew house"
• 2 jewish RAs fired from staff because too many "zionists"

The point is that we don’t go around touting “US privacy” as some sort of innovation or advantage. It’s not.
But the truth is that “Swiss Privacy” means far less in 2023 than it did in 2012 when Proton was founded. And yet Proton’s external marketing is exactly the same.
Growing up, my window faced one of

It's very unfortunate but not surprising that so many of

's Russian users will be blocked by their gov't from freely communicating on our platform.
A few decades ago my own family escaped the Soviet Bloc via secure comm networks – its no wonder they're seen a threat
Today, we learned that Skiff has been banned in Russia.
There is an urgent need for more privacy-respecting communication tools.
In 7 months since we launched Skiff Mail, we're lucky to count over half a million users 💌
Why are people on linkedin always saying "so humbled" in self-congratulatory posts?

Google can advertise privacy and security.
But their fundamental technical architecture and business model (personalized search ads) is antithetical to letting people own their own data.
On

We didn't feel like waiting another quarter century for Google to figure that out, so we built the new skiff app to be local-first and work offline
Breaking news: The OpenAI drama is real.
We checked our data and last night, SF saw a spike in low-quality sleep. There was a 27% increase in people getting under 5 hours of sleep. We need to fix this.

End-to-end encryption is fundamental to communicating just as freely online as we do offline.
For many, it's the only way to communicate freely at all.
Over 4 billion data records were stolen last year, impacting nearly two-thirds of all americans.

Giving a designer 40 min to do an exercise is like asking a chef to prep a meal with only a microwave.
@skiffprivacy
I’ve completely cut design challenges out of our interview process. Here’s how:
The
@skiffprivacy
logo can be a pain the ass to work with sometimes😬
The logo relies on negative space to create its 3D effect.
The problem? When you straight up invert it, the logo looks horribly flat.
Our solution? Re-draw the logo to widen inner negative space
@iamjasonlevin
@Humane
the AI Pin is dystopian too. a camera + microphone mediating every interaction in your life
without end-to-end encryption, nothing to protect your freedom, agency, expression
but im excited and want the tech. its not inherently incompatible long term.
