Ever seen what a moral black hole looks like? Google & Amazon agreed to: • Never restrict Israel’s use of their cloud, even when breaking ToS (i.e. surveillance) • Send payments to ā€œwinkā€ when data was being handed over • Prioritize a government’s demands over human rights

Fact: ChatGPT is scanning user chats and sending them to law enforcement. Despite OpenAI spending millions of dollars on marketing to convince you that it is "private", every chat is stored in plaintext & analyzed. Proton's AI, @asklumo always encrypts chats, and never logs.

Fortunately, you don't need Google to help you protect your privacy. In fact, their business model is all about violating it. - Manually block 3rd-party cookies - Use a VPN - Use a privacy-respecting browser - Use a DNS filtering solution to block ad and tracker scripts 6/7

Google says: ā€œwe’ve heard clearly from marketers and publishers the importance of scaled measurement solutions to understand the impact of advertising campaigns and the value of different audiences.ā€ Translation: advertisers don't want to give Google more power. 5/7

Privacy Sandbox aimed to combine technologies to provide advertiser tracking without the need for third-party cookies. Google would instead track from inside the Chrome browser... giving them a lot more power. Anonymization came through grouping activities into cohorts. 2/7

Remember Privacy Sandbox - Google’s privacy-washing plan to kill off third-party cookies for good? Well, recent changes mean that this initiative is now effectively dead. Let's quickly eulogize what's been dropped, and have a look at what this project has evolved into... 1/7
