Until 31 January 2018, I was one of Her Majesty's Inspectors and Ofsted's National Lead for Mathematics. Now largely retired, my views are entirely my own.

My small snotty toddler was swabbed 2 days ago. She’s negative for coronavirus (yay!) which means I can return to work tomorrow, instead of requiring my already stretched colleagues to cover the 52.5 hours of work I’m due to do in the next 4 days. Thank you @royalhospital

So here it is: retirement! Today is my last day as an HMI + Ofsted's national lead for mathematics. What a privilege the last 16 years have been, with a special emphasis on mathematics for the last 10, trying to help teachers/leaders make mathematics education better for pupils.
