Gil was humble, thoughtful, witty, and an absolute delight to be around. He had a calm energy and a soft, wry smile that made you feel welcomed into his space for a quick chat whenever you were around him. A role model in so many ways. Just hard to believe. 😔❤️

“Engine event” associated with a shift (for Larson) is probably a plenum fire. When you catch a little limiter on a shift it can cause a backfire that ignites fuel in the intake plenum. Lose all power until you fully pedal it. Might not be what happened but kinda sounded like it.

Manufacturer opinion matter at lot, but, how about - just run the badass 2.4 next year and switch to a carbon-neutral fuel. Keep the weight down, address environmental impact, create more flexibility for timeline of new chassis and/or new engine regs. 🤷♂️

Red arrow points to the “intake plenum”. It’s basically an enclosure on top of the engine where outside air and air from the turbochargers mix together to be sucked into the intake manifold of the engine (where that air is then mixed with fuel and combusted to create power).
