My brother will be very cool (literally).
Some news…! I’m thrilled to be appointed @FoSPRI Musician in Residence 2025, travelling to Antarctica in Jan-Feb for a composition residency like no other. I’m very grateful to the Friends of @scottpolar, the @RoyalNavy, and @hmsprotector for this incredible opportunity. [1/2]

No mention in #AutumnBudget of public health - let alone the public health grant - despite the professed shift from 'treatment to prevention'

Wow, these graphs are so important. Look at how many more NHS workers are carers compared to the general population. The work-life juggle is so very real and I really want our people to feel able to bring their whole selves to work, so we need to really acknowledge this.
📊 CHART OF THE WEEK: Being a #carer can have a significant impact on someone’s ability to work, so what did the most recent #NHS Staff Survey reveal about how many NHS staff are also carers? Rachel Hutchings explores the findings. 👇 https://t.co/wYZY6TQIoF

It's the end of our primary school journey today. Not a day for make up 😭. Kahlil Gibran says it much better than I could.

Our fireside chat is well underway! 🚀 @BolaOwolabi8 says: "Health inequalities are the fuel driving the fires in the NHS. If we don’t tackle the fuel, we have signed up to firefight forever." Couldn't join us? A recording of the chat will be available on our event page soon.

Where does the #NHS money go? We looked at how funding has been shared across different NHS services since 2016. 🏥 Community care funding has grown much more slowly than for acute care. 📉 Dentistry/ public health/ prescribing have seen real-terms cuts. https://t.co/7X6SD4HRJB

I have just ordered a new toothbrush. According to Amazon, this could make a good Mother's Day present. For the record, I prefer chocolates, wine or flowers. Toothbrushes don't feature until at least 4th place.

Today is the NHS' 76th birthday. We don't know our future health needs, so it makes sense to me that we keep doing all we can to make the NHS the best it can be. The NHS is made by our people, and this lovely poem from Michael Rosen is a great celebration of exactly that.

Our youngest has been for his transition day at secondary school today and wanted to take a pencil case with him. It was part way through the morning that he realised he was using a Your Sexual Health Matters @yshmderbys pen! Starting as we mean to go on...😁
