Our analysis suggests tolls will have to TRIPLE at Dartford to pay for the Lower Thames 'smart' motorway Crossing Private finance is not the 'get out of jail free card' that Rachel Reeves was hoping for https://t.co/pVHKeKnasK

If private finance is used for road tunnel, analysis finds it would need to charge £8.10 for cars and £14 for lorries

Illegal parking is a massive problem but ever more #carparks are not the answer. We need an approach that looks at travel and transport strategically and ensures decisions bring us closer to a sustainable, integrated transport system.

Your usual reminder. The Government is still building Smart Motorways. The Lower Thames Crossing would be built to Smart Motorway standards - 3 lanes each way, with no hard shoulder. It is a Smart Motorway in all but name.
"We have to get to the bottom of what's actually going on with these deadly Smart Motorways. For years National Highways have been avoiding telling us the stats that would help us make a decision if they are safe, if they are not safe." - @SarahChampionMP

We all know our rivers are polluted. However, it’s not just from sewage, or due to the inaction of failing water companies. What is less talked about, but in many ways worse than sewage and even more...
Oil, chemicals and bits of tyre from roads is polluting English waterways. And not enough is being done about it! This @BBCNews article from last year is sadly still relevant today. https://t.co/2YUqbAvS42

Every marketing leader I talk to is facing the same challenge: Scale 📶 The demand for content has exploded, but the systems behind it haven’t kept up. Teams are expected to launch more campaigns, in more markets, with more data, all while maintaining brand integrity and speed.

This from the Mayor who permitted expansion of London City Airport and wasted £bns of public money on the Silvertown road tunnel. 'Doers' notwithstanding, he's done nearly nothing for climate. @horton_official
Mayors around the world are leading the way on climate action in the run-up to COP30. I spoke to @Bloomberg from the C40 World Mayors Summit about how we are showing what’s possible - tackling emissions, creating good jobs and improving lives.

Watch the latest from ITV News - Claire Mercer believes POPE reports are being held back as they could be evidence smart motorways are not fit for purpose.

Delighted the Government is finally consulting on a new strategy but it fails to mention that England is way off track its target for half of journeys to be walked and cycled by 2030. And dedicated funding for England is less than 2 years’ funding for the Lower Thames Crossing!
1/2 Walking & cycling make us healthier & our economies stronger, which is key to our #PlanforChange Our latest Cycling & Walking Strategy consultation is now open - have your say on how we shape our national vision for walking, wheeling & cycling from 2025-2030. (Link in 2/2)

The government commits itself to keeping Britain's roads rancid, filthy and heavily littered. See below. A 'KPI' is comprehensive scrutiny of the failing quango @NationalHways A 'PI' is shallow and superficial scrutiny = GREENWASHING https://t.co/9veHFuAWaq

There are concerns that toxic incinerator ash could be used in the Lower Thames Crossing, in an effort to reduce carbon emissions. The best way to reduce carbon emissions from the LTC is to SCRAP IT!
Some waste management and construction firms are pushing for incinerator bottom ash aggregate (IBAA) – the residue left after burning municipal waste in an incinerator – to be used in “low carbon” concrete. https://t.co/rd3jXIP4b9

We've sent a rebuttal letter to Transport Minister @simonlightwood following his response to hundreds of MPs/MotPs who challenged the government over its decision to waste £7.3M on QT's abandonment. His response, based on advice from @NationalHways, was partial, skewed and wrong.
