Our analysis suggests tolls will have to TRIPLE at Dartford to pay for the Lower Thames 'smart' motorway Crossing. Private finance is not the 'get out of jail free card' that Rachel Reeves was hoping for.

National Highways’ scheme at J9 of the M3 near Winchester was given the go ahead in March. Ironically, the scheme had seen a significant cost increase while it was supposedly being scrutinised under the DfT's value for money review!

We are now pressing the government to consult on a new Cycling and Walking Investment Strategy (CWIS3) to set out how it will deliver real change. Can you help us? If you value what we do, please consider setting up a regular donation.

The Government has decided not to challenge the Court of Appeal judgement. That means the case is finally over and we have won!. A huge thank you to everyone who supported us in getting this historic victory.

A month ago, we won our case in the Court of Appeal about the unlawful cuts to active travel (walking, wheeling and cycling) made by the previous government and defended by Labour. We wait to see if the government will appeal to the Supreme Court.

National Highways has implicitly dropped a target to achieve “zero harm” on its network by 2040. #RoadSafety.

Since coming into existence (as Highways England) in 2015, National Highways has spent a fraction of its huge budgets on safety schemes, with the vast majority going on schemes to increase road capacity, including so-called “Smart motorways”

Other options for crossing the Thames near Dartford had never been properly explored and were dismissed on the flimsiest of reasons in 2009!. Our report, based on the research by Jonathan Roberts, shows there are alternatives to the Lower Thames Crossing

In a message to the mass climate lobby @Keir_Starmer forgot transport (the biggest sector for emissions) and how his government has just funded 33 roads, increasing CO2 emissions by millions of tonnes. How is that "unwavering commitment to climate action"?.

Something has gone very wrong when the Labour government gives the go-ahead to low value Tory road schemes while holding back high value rail infrastructure such as at Ely.

When will the government stop making empty promises and actually support making our roads safer and less congested by moving freight onto rail?.

Better transport links that support new homes and create good jobs. That's what people want in their communities. That's what my Plan for Change is delivering. Today we've given the greenlight to major upgrades for our roads and railways, with funding across the country.

Why has the government failed to announce funding for Ely and Haughley junctions, a rail freight scheme that has a far superior value compared to the many roads funded today?!.
