Surely the causality is the other way round. young adults are more likely to live with parents because they have low paid/no employment.

Living at home in early adulthood can provide a range of benefits - but does it hold those living at home back from finding good jobs?

GDP per head also fell in the quarter, renewing the negative momentum - it appears the price of above trend growth in the first half of this year is below trend growth in the second half.

Softer UK growth in Q3 24: +0.1% QoQ; +1.0% YoY. The "gangbusters" of H1 has given way to something more pedestrian.

I feel we're now going to be talking about econmic resilience vs efficiency a lot more of the coming years. .

Economic stabilization used to be part of the disaster preparedness toolbox. It is time we add it back in. Just as it was recognized that some banks were too big to fail after the global financial crisis, we have to recognize that some sectors are “too essential to fail.”.

One of the most important datapoints of all. The total fertility rate is now at record lows - and still falling. In the 60s it was 3.3 children per woman in the developed world. Today: 1.5. & while the UK used to be slightly higher than the OECD average it’s now slightly lower.

Chaotic nature of the last 48hrs is a microcosm of leadership & control vacuum this government has demonstrated over many months. Whether forced by 1922 committee letters, or a realisation that this is as good as it gets - this is a "get it over with" waving of the white flag.
