I have a possible TV appearance on Monday. I havenβt shaved since lockdown and havenβt seen my mum in that time either. Fearing what the critics might say as I remember this moment of motherly pride. ππ¬π§π»

Farewell to a gentleman born in London just before Blitz, evacuated to Bridgwater & would live the next 83 years in the same house. Died there too as was his wish. Cycled everywhere until his eyes went. Teddy boy who wore cardigans till the end as didn't want to spoil his hair.

Said goodbye to a highly intelligent & private man. Life didn't go as planned for him. Finding the right words when lives have been difficult is impt. We spoke of his challenges, but chose to remember him at his happiest - on a motorbike, travelling around Australia.

Farewell to a Yorkshireman who swapped the red rose for white when he went to Manchester as first in his family to go to university. Loved music and shows, esp opera. Enjoyed a drink and a smoke (though kept that secret from his wife). Sports fan - glued to Grandstand - esp F1.

Goodbye to a man of duty, integrity & passion. Watched Battle of Britain from beach as 8yo, served himself in Suez conflict. Job for life at the bank, retired at 53. Lifetime golfer: secretary, Captain & President of his club. Stamp collector, much loved dad, stepdad & granddad.

A service for a ground hopper who travelled UK following non-league football. All meticulously planned on a spreadsheet and accompanied by satsuma, choc bar & polos in his pocket. Worked to provide; grew vegetables for love. Sung to sleep by a lullaby he sang to his daughters.

Last service of 2024. A street turned out to say goodbye to a much loved neighbour who had no close family to send her off. A wonderful gardener, cat lover, avid reader and sociable soul. A one woman neighbourhood watch who will be deeply missed by those she kept an eye on. β€οΈ

Not much known about a secretive man - had an HM Veterans Badge, believed to have been one of the survivors of the Piper Alpha oil rig disaster, loved rock music, motorbikes and dreamed of owning a VW Campervan.

No pomp, no flannel. Just an honest, straight, natural send off for a man with those same qualities. Joined the RAF after getting strafed by a Spitfire, a life in the outside - farming, fishing & gardening. Direct, stubborn, at the heart of his community, rock of his family.

A local community united by charitable endeavour came together to say goodbye to an independent woman who gave so much as a volunteer. She loved knitting and her dogs, esp poodles. Kept herself to herself and didnβt suffer fools, but so well respected and much missed.

A quiet farewell for a quiet, private woman. A farmerβs daughter who set up her own business & cared for family and friends. Second love was true love and adored Scotland, nature and her garden - her sanctuary. β€οΈ

First Christmas Card of the season and as ever it is from the group of friends my mum made in the last 5 years of her life. As a cynic about Christmas cards I have to say this one arriving always warms my heart. Love that they are still hanging out and think of mum. β€οΈ β€οΈβ€οΈ

Increasingly see the Asst Dying debate not as one of principle or process, but of faith (not that sort): those with optimism (faith) that this will bring more choice vs those whose historical experience sees warning signs for oppression which theyβve no faith will be resisted.

If youβve not watched the fantastic Children England legacy podcasts, do. This is such a clear, considered & still eviscerating look at the impact on charities of markets and commissioning. Kudos @Kathy_CEO_CE π https://t.co/4pJXkkGce6

βI just wanted to say thank you again for coaching me through the service and for wording the introduction and finalising the service so perfectly. My Dad was a man of few words and I think he would have approved. Which in turn has helped me with closure.Β Thank you, thank you.β

1. I donβt often tweet about my personal life, but on 1st November, my mum Jane was hit by a large vehicle as a pedestrian in St. Louis, USA. She suffered a severe brain injury & remains in a coma in hospital. Here's Jane & me in happier times.

19 million people voted for a party other than Labour at the GE. 1 million signing a petition for another election is not news- other than the suggestion that those who did not get the result they wanted believe they have a route other than a democratic election to get their way.
