Because journalists are too busy coming up with hypothetical scenarios and trying to manufacture gotcha moments for Catherine Connolly, I put together a list of some of her work 🧵 #Aras25
Because journalists are too busy asking Heather Humphreys where she puts her toaster and her party just keep vaguely saying she’s “a candidate for all” I put together a list of some of her work 🧵#Aras25

We should waste resources by housing people that aren’t at risk of homelessness to solve the housing crisis is quite a take. TD’s should absolutely oppose houses that cost thousands a month to rent. If you can afford to pay that you’re not at risk of homelessness.
@GymRobcom @OHanlonEilis Look you can use whatever mental gymnastics you like to justify not building more houses. But the fact is houses are going to remain unaffordable unless we increase the supply by making it easier to build by cutting red tape and not objecting to new housing developments.

I’m convinced SF is trying to stay out of government. Anytime they grow in popularity they start moving to the right with nonsense decisions like this Supporting animal cruelty, anti-trans, anti-immigration rhetoric etc This is support for gambling addiction and animal cruelty
FG, FF, SF and II all vote to give €100 million of public money to the horse and greyhound racing industry. That's three times more money than the core funding for all our sports! €20 million is going to the cruel greyhound racing industry. Shameful.

Wow. Pearse Doherty brilliantly exposing lie, after lie told by Simon Harris and Fine Gael to voters in the last general election. One of the most devastating two minutes I’ve seen.

When are going to have a real discussion on the dangers of behavioural therapy to Ireland’s disability community? @paulmurphy_TD @RuthCoppingerSP @HollyCairnsTD @MaryLouMcDonald @BarryHeneghan2 @LauraHarmon01 @EmerHigginsTD @InclusionIre

Other studies have likened it to torture (Shkedy, 2021) and Kupferstein (2018) showed 46% of people who had ABA met the threshold for PTSD. When are we going to listen to the vast amount of disabled people on this? How many more disable people need to suffer?

https://t.co/5mzOVu6x8r National autism strategy consultation were strongly opposed to ABA/PBS, autism oversight committee strongly opposed it, DPO’s on disability matters committee strongly opposed it, yet @fiannafailparty and @FineGael refused to oppose it.

Of 17,120 people that had been through ABA “32% greater frequency of mental health hospitalizations. These results suggest that there may be a relationship between mental health hospitalizations and getting ABA” Most used intervention in disability services in Ireland

The ref isn’t why we lost the game, nor is the debate between Prendergast and Crowley. We lost the game because our pack were bullied by a much stronger team On the cards I thought Crowley’s was harsh, SFM should’ve gotten at least yellow, and Ryan should’ve been a straight red

People outside the disability community don’t realise how bad ireland is for disability discrimination, and for most disabled people the WRC isn’t accessible. There was a law change in 2021 making all hearings public, which for many is career suicide. Justice isn’t accessible
A garden centre which had an autistic job applicant work an unpaid trial shift without asking the same of other candidates has been ordered to pay €5k for disability discrimination. The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) found that the worker was left "confused, humiliated

https://t.co/QbJb3bfaRJ Step 1, 4, and 5 in one tweet. They’re evolving (or getting lazy)
@GymRobcom @SimonHarrisTD @thisweekrte Yes, government policy of infinity migration. Simple supply & demand economics tells us that mass migration stymies wage growth. Only people of quasi-religious faith can reject this objective truth. Health care may get worse, I admit, but it will be worth it for the nation.

Context check: Irish people currently don’t have any constitutional or statutory right to housing. So if foreign nationals have the same rights to housing as the rest of us, it means they also have no rights.
The immigration scam is being perpetrated by the politicians against the Irish people. FF/FG believe foreign nationals have the same rights as you when it comes to housing. It is not about supply. It is about curbing demand. #HowIrelandWorks

Step 4 will commonly involve them calling the other person a commie, socialist or fascist while unknowingly describing capitalism. These tactics apply to 95% of people spouting far right rhetoric.

Far-right debate tactics Step 1) Far-righter make an assertion, not a factual statement Step 2) someone challenges it Step 3) Far-righter realises their assertion falls apart immediately when facts and logic are applied

After several attempts to converse with people that use far-right rhetoric, I’ve found similar tactics Step 1) make an assertion, not a factual statement Step 2) someone challenges it Step 3) realise your assertion falls apart immediately when facts and logic are applied
