With a ceasefire in place in Gaza, Ireland will ramp up our humanitarian assistance. Aid funded by Ireland is now entering Gaza. But we will do much more and assist in every possible way, with partners, in supporting getting aid in quickly and increasing further supplies

I strongly welcome the announcement overnight that Israel and Hamas have agreed on the first phase of a ceasefire and peace deal for Gaza. My thoughts today are with the people of Gaza, who have suffered so much, and with the hostages and their families.

Tánaiste @SimonHarrisTD today met South Africa’s Minister for International Relations and Cooperation @RonaldLamola to discuss areas of shared interest, including Ireland’s engagement at the G20 during South Africa’s Presidency.

I am aware that, overnight, another Flotilla has been intercepted by Israel, this time with 5 Irish citizens on board. My priority is to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our citizens. Our Embassy team in Tel Aviv is in contact with Israeli authorities regarding next steps.
