Fair question so an honest academic critique of Ayn Rand is that she was a bitter former bourgeoisie child whose family fortune was “interrupted” by the Soviet Revolution. She was an average writer who used cartoonish characters to moralize readers.
@medickimw I've never read it or even heard about it until 2008 but what is a genuine critique you have of the book itself to about the author and her political beliefs?

As a physician this is just empirically false. The only reason people are in hysterics over autism in the first place is because we’ve gotten better at diagnosing it earlier across a variety of presentations

I can work myself into an endless panic attack if I think about measles virus getting gain of function mutations bc a bunch of Salt Life Morgan Wallen fans turned the second most touristed state into a Petri dish.
You alone getting vaccinated doesnt save you. Not from mutations, breakthrough infections, etc. That’s not how public health works. It has to be a certain threshold maintained to be effective for most of these vaccines to work

I regularly accompany adults to appointments both routine and emergency care. The reasons vary- reassurance, a trusted person, a history of medical neglect/abuse, anxiety, etc. If y’all don’t quit being obtuse about this shit I swear 😒😒😒
@realcalojones No. They're correct here. Your wife is an adult, and as such should be able to see the doctor without you there. It is a red flag.

When I tell you the medic and community clinic chats were in SHAMBLES bc as adept as we have become at trying to provide care IN SPITE OF the healthcare industry we have absolutely ZERO capacity to handle this. I seriously can’t wrap my head around it.
We’re talking about the mass death and disability of children. We’re talking about children getting pertussis and then coughing so badly they break their ribs and/or suffocate. We’re talking about adults and children risking death from pneumonia when the schools are turned
