Absolutely speechless. Melissa has a buzzsaw core as revealed by microwave satellite imagery. Almost guaranteed to be a Category 4 by 2 a.m. ET. At 2 PM, it became a hurricane. Tropical storm to Category 4 in just over 12 hours? Ridiculous intensification. @MyRadarWX

There’s so much at stake in the US trade relationship with Canada. We are Canada’s top trading partner—by a mile—but Canada is our top export market as well. Nearly 8 million US jobs depend on trade with Canada. Americans benefit when we have more trade with Canada, not less.

This is a point I want to stress. Two things can be true. Yes, Jamaica IS hurricane-prone and adopted resilient building practices after Gilbert. AND Jamaica hasn't, in the modern era, received a direct hit from a Category 4, and may be about to.
@MatthewCappucci Jamaica has a lot of experience with hurricanes too, mark my words, less than a week after Melissa is gone, the tourist areas will be cleaned up and tourists flying in won't even be able to tell we just had a hurricane. Our nickname is "the rock" for a reason! 😎🇯🇲 3/3
