Insulting people who are doing the right thing and correcting or retracting a paper is a really bad look. We need to be accepting of errors, and be kind to our colleagues, to make it easier to admit when things have gone wrong.

A new paper claiming a simple model of genetics fit a range of social traits. It’s interesting data, but it’s a massive reach to say the model fit reflects genetic effects, as there’s no control for environment here. 1/n

The All of Us paper is rightly being criticized for its UMAP figure, which suggests an overly discrete view of human variation—a problem that is compounded by colouring the plot with self-identified race and then omitting the “self-identified” from the title & legend. 1/n

Family-based GWAS have become the gold standard for assessing causal genetic effects. They’re often said to offer an unbiased estimate of the average causal effect (ATE) of an allele or PGS. Here, we ( @carl_veller @molly_przew ) evaluate such statements. 1

A really daft paragraph. Imagine society discriminates against (say) short people. Then as height has a genetic basis, so will discrimination, and so discrimination will built into PGS of traits affected by discrimination.

One of the many issues raised here is that an ancestors this far back have an appreciable prob. of not transmitting any genetic material to you (eg 8 generations back ~13% prob), but they're still very much your ancestor. We shouldn't equate genetics with genealogy.
