With the news that the government has published its Animal Welfare Strategy, NFU President Tom Bradshaw (@ProagriLtd) calls for these welfare standards to be applied to imported produce to meet the high standards as asked of British farmers. More here👉 https://t.co/s7SkS0NeuA

I spoke up for farmers in Parliament yesterday.  Labour Ministers sat there laughing - all whilst farmers watched on from the public gallery. This is the level of disrespect our farmers have come to expect 👇

(2/3) Labour's @MsAlisonHume asked the government to show compassion for elderly farmers now trapped by the anti-forestalling clause. She reminded the house of the heroism of farmers during this summer’s wildfires and their selfless contributions to their communities.

(3/3) @MCSavours said again that he would not break the promise he made to his farming constituents. He urged Ministers to listen to 'increasingly vocal' Labour MPs and look at the anti-forestalling clause of the Finance Bill, saying it is not too late to make a change.

(1/3) Thank you to Labour MPs who continue to stand up for their farming constituents. In the second reading of the Finance Bill, Labour MPs once again called on the government to rethink the family farm tax and remove the pernicious anti-forestalling clause from the bill.

Keir Starmer refuses to axe the inheritance tax on family farms despite knowing that some farmers are considering suicide because of it. Absolutely disgusting.

@CatSmithMP and @amcarmichaelMP asking some very direct questions of the PM. Starmer admits he knows some farmers are considering suicide because of his policy, he knows there are changes that could prevent this, but he is choosing not to change course. Words fail me.

MPs are debating Inheritance Tax ahead of a vote on the Finance Bill. 🚨🗳️ Markus Campbell-Savours advised ministers to take note of his colleagues on Government benches who have been increasingly vocal and to recognise the ‘deep discomfort' this is causing across rural Britain.

Can this be anymore clear ? @UKLabour @Keir_Starmer @RachelReevesMP ? Has any government ever created tax law that incentivises suicide before ? @agricontract @loosecollie @wheat_daddy @TheFarmingForum

This desperately misguided policy has become a running sore for government out of all proportion to any possible benefit. Now the PM is personally on the hook for any awful tragedy which occurs as a result. This has to be a case study in catastrophic policy making.

I have repeatedly raised, both in the House of Commons and outside of it, the tragic stories shared with me about the human cost of this cruel tax. @Keir_Starmer cannot pretend he doesn’t know the damage this will do to the lives and livelihoods of farmers. He must now keep his

After @10DowningStreet spoke to the @CommonsLiaison, many news outlets have highlighted the damaging impact of the family farm tax on working people, particularly elderly and vulnerable farmers. There is still time for the government to take action to remove those most at risk

This is one of the most cold blooded and heartless things I’ve ever seen from a Prime Minister. Keir Starmer admits that he knows some farmers are considering suicide because of inheritance tax on family farms, but he then confirms that he will continue with the inheritance tax.

Keir Starmer is such a cruel and callous Prime Minister. He effectively just admitted he is aware more farmers may commit suicide before Rachel Reeves' Family Farm Tax comes into force. Everyone knows this disgraceful tax must be scrapped.

Why, oh why, will the Prime Minister not change course? Parliamentary Committees, MPs, farming stakeholders & our hard working farming community are all calling for his disastrous Family Farm Tax to be scrapped. But the PM remains determined to push on - despite all warnings.

Britain is now governed by a Prime Minister who admits his tax policy is driving farmers to contemplate suicide – and presses on anyway. That's not inference. It's his own admission. Keir Starmer told MPs he is aware that farmers are considering ending their lives in response to
